covid19 and natural selection.

Wouldn’t evolution/natural selection predict that this virus would evolve into a less deadly disease, because a virus doesn’t want the host to die?
I was really hopeful back in April that by the end of the year, Darwinism would work its magic on this terrible disease

And before you say “evolution takes millions of years”, that isn’t true. It has to do with how long a generation lasts for a life form
We have observed evolution in fruit flies in only one year.

i dont think you know what evolution is.

What if I told you it is?
The people I’m seeing are much less sick when they come in then June/July

1. Maybe we are since fatality rate for the virus is decreasing.
2. Lockdowns counteract this, especially being locked down over the summer while keeping the young apart.
3. Fairly stable virus.

Doesn't work that quickly every time, and clearly the current lethality and contagious nature are keeping this virus alive and well.
But there have been reportedly dozens of smaller mutations.
If we didn't have modern medicine, yes the virus would likely get less deadly because the hosts would die too quickly so a less lethal mutation would survive.
Here's a study saying one such mutation has made it more contagious -

What incentive does COVID have for not killing us? It primarily kills older people (>65) who are now passed child-bearing age (mortality rate = 6 percent) rather than younger people (rate < 2 percent).
As long as a parasite doesn’t kill child-bearing hosts, it can survive indefinitely.

Manmade viruses don’t evolve.

Probably because they really have the flu and were misdiagnosed with Covid19.

Evolution doesn’t "pick" what to do, the outcomes and its effects on the life form do.

This virus is evolving, but this doesn't mean it'll be less deadly. If anything, it will evolve to evade mechanisms to reduce its numbers.

The virus is gonna yell YOLO!, jump off a bridge, and kill itself by accident?
Sweet!

You're operating under the assumption that evolution takes place in the timespan of months? And, you have studied the subject enough to state that you "absolutely believe in" it?
You're going with this? Really?

There's also the issue of evolutionary short-sightedness. COVID perpetuates itself by making its host cough. So that's the reason it causes respiratory problems.
Sure, it *might* be better off if it dialed back its attack and strove for a more modest attack on the host's respiratory system.
But unintelligent organisms like COVID don't have the benefit of long-term strategy. What it's doing is working, so it will continue to do that.

That’s what happened with the coronavirus strain that crossed over from animals to humans in the 1890s, it basically morphed into a regular cold after initially causing a lot of issues, not sure why this is getting downvoted so badly.

BOOM...there it is.
As well as that leading researcher saying early on that he knew that this was a manmade virus. He stated it was a good thing since man-mades ALWAYS get weaker with time.
He has been 100% correct on everything he stated way back in April/May.

They are covid positive with PCR.
