I don’t know. That covid swab went WAY further back than I’ve ever felt a flu swab go. A flu swab has never bothered me but covid felt like they were trying to get at my brain.

They can swab the oropharyngeal airway
I’ve had it done both through nose and mouth

Why?

Because I got tested twice
One mandated by state since I work at a Skilled nursing facility
A second voluntarily after a resident at work tested positive to see if I was an asymptomatic carrier

I can only say how it was for the 9 month old baby. Fever 2 days (under 102 the whole time) and cranky AF. Was very mild. The RSV that landed us in children's hospital for 3 days was WAYYYYYYYYYY worse than the rona.
Also when did you get tested? I think they changed the way the test was administered because when I got it it was exactly like the flu swab.

Call the pediatrician. My 18 year old about to go to college had a persistent non productive dry cough (had mono twice last fall). She wanted to get the COVID test at Walgreens, told her we are seeing her pediatrician. She ended up having strep and ear drainage with possible ear infection. The doctor gave her antibiotics, cough suppressant...he was fearful she could relapse triggering her mono.
Long story, call your pediatrician. You were are still are in the medical sales?

She has diarrhea. I have that 6 days a week.
I know this is a joke, but just in case anyone actually often has diarrhea, that's not normal.

Yes I am. I scheduled her an appt this morning. I ended up texting with one of the pediatricians at the practice, her son is in my sons class. She said they don’t even do the tests there because the turnaround is so bad. Said they have to see her and deem a test necessary, then refer to Childrens for the test. Basically said their life is about to be hell this fall because they know this is going to happen with every kid who has allergies or a regular cold.

Two weeks ago because my husband played golf with a guy who tested positive so everyone had to get one before getting to go back to the country club

Our pediatrician said the same thing about testing. He does not do it. But the pediatrician can deem if your child has the symptoms of COVID or just a common cough. That was the case for my daughter...I am glad I did not take her to a testing center to be exposed with others who may have the virus.

It's sad that a person can't even cough. I mean I almost choked holding a cough in from swallowing wrong in church yesterday. I'm over it. Every. Single. Bit.
Good luck with your kids picc.

I was reading our back to school policy yesterday and basically if you are in close contact with someone who has symptoms you quarantine and anyone who tested positive you quarantine. So kids gonna be out of school all the damn time.

I’m glad you didn’t have to expose her either!

I know. It’s unreasonable to expect that people won’t get colds that aren’t covid.

Why would you let your toddler daughter stay sick and miserable without calling her doctor? Why would you send a sick child to school to risk getting other kids sick?
Don’t have kids do you?

Do they shove the q tip up their nose? Have you seen anything serious in toddlers?
Not sure how many serious answers you've received, buy my 15 month old has been having stuffy nose and cough for a few days. Wife actually tested positive the week before symptoms started. Brought him to the doctor and the doctor said they dont worry about COVID in children unless they are running a fever. They've been seeing lots of summer colds. Said typically if children do have COVID, fever is the main symptom.
