COVID Question For You OT Doctors

I had a nurse that works for a pulmonologist group tell me that since COVID they are seeing crazy high numbers of otherwise healthy people with chronic shortness of breath and low O2 levels. The question I had that she said the doctors can’t/won’t answer is: Is this seen predominantly in people who have had COVID but no vaccine, COVID and the vaccine, or no COVID but have had the vaccine? Obviously, I want to get at whether it’s COVID or the vaccine that’s the root cause.

Your shortness of breath is caused by you standing 5'9" 235 and haven't seen the inside of a gym since high school

Oxymoron

I don't think it's particularly uncommon for people to have some shortness of breath after they've had an upper respiratory disease.
I still have some from COVID back in November but it's improved quite a bit and my O2 levels never dropped below 96-97. I'm vaccinated. I have unvaccinated family that have had a similar experience. But I also had SOB after bronchitis a couple years ago for awhile.

It could be in people who have had the vaccine or who have not had the vaccine.
It’s predominately associated with patients who have been hospitalized with severe Covid.
I won’t comment on whether vaccination reduces the odds of severe Covid requiring hospitalization since that seems to be more of a matter of opinion rather than a matter of fact these days.

I’m not a gynecologist, but I’ll take a look anyway.

Another cohort to consider: people who got covid and were not treated with early multi drug therapy (HQN, Ivermectin, steroids, Z pak etc).

Y’all do know COVID is a real respiratory virus right? It was enhanced in a lab to be more effective.
It blows my mind that some of y’all want to blame every single thing on a vaccine Now there are certainly issues with the vaccine and I’m not a fan of them at this point. But come on with the vaccine fear mongering. It’s to the point that it’s as bad as the COVID fear mongering was.

Take your ivermectin, and you’ll be fine. Our kids actually like the taste.

There's really only 2 groups...
Vax and had COVID
No vax and had COVID
At this point, basically everyone has had Rona.

Wrong. I got the vax and have never gotten Covid.

Most of my relatives are vaxxed and have not had Covid. We younger ones who work and have been out mixing with others are vaxxed and have had Covid. The retired ones have dodged it.

Hard to test positive for Covid if you're never been tested.

Our long Covid clinic is currently seeing more patients with some form of vaccination than those without.
But that doesn't really mean anything re: vaccine efficacy, because a large number of our patients are vaccinated so we'd expect this.
The rate would appear to be higher in unvaccinated vs vaccinated individuals, but waning immunity and the amorphous nature of the diagnosis make it difficult to say definitively that the vaccine-naive group are more at risk of long Covid. This is different than the clear picture of their increased risk of serious Covid-19 outcomes and/or mortality compared to vaccinated individuals.
Among those with the most recent (bivalent) booster, the incidence rate of new long Covid cases appears to be lower. This is most certainly confounded by the timing of the wave trough this Fall, and we'll have a clearer picture come late Spring.
