It’s just shocking to me how easily people are willing to isolate themselves from the world. You only get one life and you spend it sitting in your house without any interaction.
I’m noticing this a lot more. Very sad.

You lost "get together". I lost friends.4 kinda close and a few more that I knew well.

That first round of the Wu flu wasn't anything to play with.

Nah. Thankfully most of my friends are republicans and don’t care about Covid

It likely wasn't just COVID.. In reality, people move on with their lives. You are friends with people for a period in time and then things change. Doesn't mean you dislike each other, priorities just change.

COVID was likely just the catalyst to get it all started. Lock everything down for a year and people find hobbies and new people closer to them to interact with.

Sounds like you had too many liberal friends.

Since Covid hit, I’ve seen this group maybe twice. This group was more than happy to let social interaction die. We invited them to parties for our kids, they declined. Many haven’t held parties for their own kids. Wouldn’t even schedule the football game cookouts, nothing. Communication died out.

Maybe it’s you and they used Covid as an excuse to ditch you.

ETA: I don’t mean this as a knock against you. I’m simply saying they may have “moved on” or gotten busy with their own kids or other distractions and they’re just using Covid as the precedent for their antisocial behavior.

.

I didn't get this from the OP. I took him to mean that during Covid, people's habits changed and they never got back into the rhythm of being around each other.

I don't think it was because people freaked out about Covid.

I didn’t lose a group but did lose 2 friends I’ve had since childhood. Growing up they were the more uh quirky out of the group of neighborhood kids but they went full swan dive off a cliff with Covid. From what I’ve seen on social media, I think they are back out and about doing things. However, I have no desire to rekindle any sort of friendship with people like that.

Covid absolutely killed social life. Not because people still fear it, but it’s like they were retrained to keep to themselves

It’s weird. But I’ve noticed a lot of social scenes just disappeared since then

Same here. It seems like masking is making a comeback. I guess they are all anticipating whatever new variant Fauci will be scaring folks with next.

I haven't lost any friends over Covid, but there are some that I rarely see in person anymore. They text or call, but they won't go anywhere people gather in large numbers, that includes the mall, the gym, movie theaters, etc. When some of them found out that my wife and I went with my brother and his family to Universal Studios last year, I thought their heads were going to explode. It's sad really.

I don't know many progressives or at least don't have any friends that are far left. My older sister is but she's not a virtue signaling Covidian

Well, the good news is that it shined a light on a great many things:

1. The media is a propaganda machine for the gov't
2. Modern medicine is wholly controlled by the feds
3. Social media is a modern plague on society
4. When the chips are down, Republicans and Democrats are equally eager to suspend our civil liberties for the 'greater good'

COVID was a trial run for something far worse. They were just laying the base.

I have friends that did this and looking back it seems Covid was the excuse for them to finally not have to be social anymore. Now they’re homebody’s and keep to themselves mostly. Only time I see them is when I make the effort and I have to go to their house because they ain’t leaving.

Maybe people don’t want to be bothered with other people and would rather spend time with their families.

People should respect choices and move on.

I think that people underestimate how powerful a motivator fear can be, even more so than greed. It's hands down the easiest way for the government to control us. This administration wants to divide us and turn us against each other. It's amazing how different America is today from how it was just 3 years ago.

Is this even healthy? Define bothered with other people?

It’s absolutely imperative for good mental health to have an outlet other than being with family 24/7.

Mainly it’s kids. Kids are so wonderful people focus their life around them. People with kids the same age will become closer friends than their best friend from before kids.

Truth. I work a lot. When I’m not working, I want to be with my kids and wife. Just home with them or doing things with them. Not at a bar or tailgate or whatever. It feels like such an imposition when I have to do anything.

2019 November “election”,

The gubernatorial election?

I will say that my high school group’s dynamic has changed because of politics. The people that only talk about politics have been around less because they’re depressing buzzkills, and they’re invited less often now.
