Man you would think if anything would finally wake the AA community up to how unhealthy they are (generally speaking) this would be it.
But that's not the sense I'm getting. They're blaming it on health care inequalities.

It is not just Georgia, the demographics of COVID19 deaths are skewed heavily to African Americans throughout the country. Besides obesity, diabetes, hypertension being large factors,, because of the mechanism by which the virus attacks the oxygen carrying capability of red blood cells it is suspected AAs that have the sickle cell trait are at higher risk.

Things like this can help explain why-
There was an article a few weeks ago in the New York Times about a mid sized GA town, whose population was heavily black.
A member of the community died, someone from New York came into town for the funeral. A week later an elderly person that attend the funeral died, her funeral was held in the same church. Within two weeks the city had one of the highest infections rates in the nation.

Dougherty County has 114 of Georgia's 1167 deaths

Actually there were a group of American Americans that believed at the beginning that they were immune to Covid 19. Even the Houston Mayor alluded to this myth in one of his speeches.

So. If dosen’s take a rocket scientist to figure out why. That demographic has a majority of obese people. In about ten years the white race will be just like that with the amount of people leaving high school looking like water buffaloes. We need to bring back fat shaming

How is it a state figure when study focuses primarily on Atlanta area & Atlanta hospitals? Area is also more densely populated in first place before factoring in density variations within this area and unlike state is majority black at 52%.

So I know y'all been on the google and know more than me because I'm Just a ER Doctor but AAs typically have more comorbidities which can be attributed to their lifestyles. High Comordidities or being old lhave been present in all Covid deaths I've seen.
