$115 is excessive. Up further north in the midwest, common "fees" for having electricity are in the $15-25 range.

Cool, maybe yall will have a region destroying event that will require massive infrastructure rebuilding and your "common" fees might look a little different.

But you do pay for all of those things every time you fill up, so do you just prefer the ignorance of not realizing what you pay for?

Key phrase “when you fill up”. Or for comparison sake, when you use it.

Electric bill smoothing.

I think you nailed it. A lot of utility companies try to figure average usage per household per year, then they estimate an average annual usage and bill from that, making slight modifications up or down periodically. That could be the source of the charges for the month.

What do you think is a fair price for infrastructure for one house in a subdivision? That is $1380/year infrastructure per house for the life of the neighborhood provided the infrastructure prices don't go up.

So where does this $1.6 billion per year in infrastructure going?

It's not a key phrase though. If you want to cancel your electricity service, i.e. not buy gas, you will also not pay those fees.

Rebuilding all the shite they just rebuilt like 5 years ago. Since 2005, there's been what, 5 or so catistraphic hurricanes and a horrible flood in Baton Rouge so 6 events in less than 20 years that take a complete rebuild of the infrastructure.

That ain't cheap

It happens, and people don't get ripped off over it.

Contingency planning helps.

Link me to some of the equivalent regions destroying events in the midwest with equivalent infrastructure damage.

Storm restoration fees should be made illegal.

I can unplug my cable and internet modem and my Cox bill will still be $180 too.

That's fine, but don't bitch when it becomes too expensive for the energy company to operate so you don't have power.

You frequently have Ida level devastation

We frequently have 100 plus MPH storms, landslides and avalanches. We also have blizzards, 20" plus snowfalls that devastate infrastructure.

Out west they have fires and wind. In the North they have snow and ice.

La/Texas isn't special in this regard.

Entergy customers to pay $3.2 billion for storm repairs over 15 years

To be exact it would be 3.2 billion over 15 years. So where is the other 1.3 billion going each year?

Upgrades and or local repairs I would imagine without looking into it further. One thing I can guarantee though, is not Entergy's pocket because it's regulated.

I'd gladly pay all these "rape the customer" fees if it translated to better quality service and an improved grid. But that's just not what's happening.

Because Entergy sucks and you all know it.

I gave you multiple examples, you're just protecting your rip off artists.

La and Texas aren't special when dealing with natural disaster.
