Phuck him. He made it big off a cover of a real Southerner, DAVID ALLEN COE.
David Allan Coe is from Ohio.

So ... after your re-write of an already good David Alan Coe / George Jones song and your star power dims, you go political in a direction to ostracize much of your fan base?
Why can’t entertainers and athletes just play and entertain?

If you actually read his quotes and not just the editorialized versions you'll see that his comments were pretty innocuous. I didn't watch the interview, but for some reason the "journalist" that wrote the article in the OP took him agreeing that black lives matter as him endorsing the movement.

What’s really going on is that 70% of Black children grow up without a father. A large percentage don’t do well in school and turn to crime when they get older. A large percentage of those who aren’t outright criminals at the very least don’t respect authority and are told growing up that cops are out to get them.
Then when they do have an interaction with a cop, some act out. And a small number of those who act out end up getting shot.
That’s what’s going on. It’s not racist cops roaming around looking for black people to shoot. If we’re going to have a real conversation, it has to include the role that black people play in getting shot by police.
If Black people don’t want to have that conversation, then they really don’t want a *real* conversation.
And guess what, there’s plenty of white people like that too who don’t respect authority and get shot by police. The difference is white people don't automatically support the person who was shot just because he shares their skin color.
This, ladies and gentleman, is the cold ,hard truth.
You won't hear it on the nightly news, nor the gazillion BS talk shows all claiming to show all sides of the problem. You won't read it in the liberal-owned papers or leftist influenced websites.
But make no mistake about it...it's the elephant in the room that everyone is afraid to mention/talk about because it's too convenient to tell the truth and put the responsibility for most of the supposed "race issues" on the doorstep of those where it belongs.
As for CS...if he truly is supporting BLM and not just speaking of racial issues in general....then frick him.
Maybe he can go on the “People used to come see us” tour with Lady Antebellum and the Dixie Chicks.
(Edit... my bad ....Lady “A” (the fake one) and “the Chicks)

Chris would've got on well with the likes of Waylon and Cash (and so would've Sturgill)

Chris is lucky that over a million soldiers have given their lives for the “myth” that is the USA.

Actually, I've found that when I travel abroad, I "quickly realize" that Asians, Australians, and Europeans don't generally give two shits about America or Americans.
Also, if circumstances allowed, I'd move to Tuscany or The Hunter Valley in Australia in a heartbeat.

How many hours have you put into rioting....I mean, "protesting"....dammit, protesting? That's it.

Except its the most media and entertainment all of them consume. Australians are in a panic because American Halloween is becoming a thing there for example. And White Christmas plays in the middle of summer. And you couldn't find Australian media if you tried.
They care.

The fact is, in the US in the year 2020, you have to work hard to be "opressed".
Literally all a poor black person in the US today has to do to get ahead is go to school, put in the least amount of effort required, and avoid getting a felony charge by the time they graduate.
After that, they are given the opportunity to obtain a college education for damn near FREE. If they continue to put forth the least amount of effort, they will earn a degree.
After that, they will enter a job market that is tailored to them. Companies and corporations are bending over backward to meet affirmative action requirements. They are literally favored in today's job market.
There is no real oppression in 2020 America. It is a myth. Period.
The degradation of the family unit, the devaluation of education in the community, and the distrust of authority figures in the black community all add up to a reality that is just as bad, if not worse, than actual opression. Personal responsibility is the only path forward. We can throw whatever platitudes we want at the problem. We can take down statues and rename things. People can kneel and protest. They can burn, loot, and undermine law and order. They can spin fallacies of facts and data. But, none of it will change a damn thing until there is a tangible accounting of personal responsibility, choices, and actions within black communities.
