In a recent interview with CBS This Morning, Chris was asked about the nationwide protests, and gave an answer that suggests he's trying to listen and learn.
Chris said that the aftermath of George Floyd's killing at the hands of police had given him a "broad awakening" about what was really going on in the country.
"I feel like the country that I thought that we were living in was a myth."
Stapleton, known for keeping a low profile, then wholeheartedly threw his support behind the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I think we all have a lot of work to do, you know, as individuals as a society," he said. "And if you don’t think that, I think you’re not looking.”
Real powerful stuff.

This country has its fair share of problems, but it’s still tGOAT and there’s a large amount of people that need to realize that

Phuck him. He made it big off a cover of a real Southerner, DAVID ALLEN COE.

I have no desire to cancel him. I enjoy a good bit of his music. I'm just sad, as always, that a musician has to express platitudes in line with his suit bosses in order to check a box. I doubt he genuinely gives a frick.

Probably not. Just like Drew Brees, he spoke his mind but eventually had to say what people wanted him to. Do you really think he had some awaking at 41 years old? Newsflash, he still feels the same way but wants to play football

how is anyone surprised by this shite anymore?

Anyone that's a public figure that doesn't have 'frick you' status is going to say whatever they have to to keep the gravy train rolling. That's not counting the true believers, of course, but you're not going to see any active dissent from those whose bottom line can be affected by journalistic hit jobs.
