I'm sitting on my front porch drinking coffee and smoking a bowl of saliva in my underwear.

I'll start shooting some guns this afternoon.

I do it every single day. When you're really in the country, you make your own rules.

I have 3 of those. Don't mind them at all, but I'm on 20 acres and they are away from the house. Actually like listening to them in the mornings.

More power to the guy. I worked a midnight shift for several years and my neighbors knew it but they didn't give a rat's arse when it came time to mow their yards. I never complained. I just went and bought a window unit a/c to drown out the noise of lawn mowers.

Dern if he's a mile away and his property borders yours you got a really nice place.

I shoot quite a bit on my relatively secluded 150 acres. There is a holy roller church about 3/4 of a mile away from me. I am planning to shoot this afternoon but in the interest of being a good neighbor I don't shoot within an hour each way of their meeting hours posted on their sign.

Then there are the middle aged couple from California who live on a hill top towards town.
They complain about the automatic weapon fire in the morning and afternoon. They don't realize how expensive that would be. Nor the timing of the "shots".
Where they live, houses are being built and the two have no idea that the intimidating sound is the sound of nail guns being used to roof the new houses.
(We have nail guns that we used when rebuilding our old farm house, and the other kind of guns, too.)

Well, they are Californians.

Pretty amazing a State like California has an IQ roughly the same as the Mississippi Delta.

There's a good chance your neighbor is a Fat Rambo who has a litany of excuses/reasons why he couldn't join the military. I bet he looks like this:

You need to move this thread to the Outdoor Board for more expert analysis.

Or at least he was before he bought all that ammo.

He was still rich until he shot it all. I'd rather have a bunch of ammo than a bunch of Yankee Zimbabwe 2.0 Funny Money. Spend or invest that shite as quickly as possible.

I am worried that some of the elderly farmers will die and leave the farms to their children who might decide to subdivide and sell off the land. The only way to avoid this would be to buy the land myself. I just hope I can get it at a fair price. This is a beautiful and peaceful area and I would hate to see it ruined by construction and development.

That would be enough for me to instantly hate him. If you aren't farming why the hell would you move to the country and do this?
I live in a wooded neighborhood and have seen folks clearcut a four acre lot. I had a neighbor move in that cut down 4 perfectly healthy oak trees along his fence. They had provided shade on my driveway. First meeting with him I asked him why and he couldn't give a coherent answer why.

He didn't owe you any answer. The trees are his to do with how he sees fit.

It's a city thing. Buddy bought 13 acres up the road from me. 4 clear, 4 wooded.

First thing he does is get a quote on clearing it.

Fifth time he cut the grass he changed his mind.

They've never owned a large property and have no idea of how to upkeep it.

I was pretty much raised at my grandparents and they had 38 acres. Paw paw had about 10 of it cleared because he ran a small farm in retirement. I spent my entire youth bushhoging that place once the cows were gone.

My in laws have 16 acres but they only have 1 cleared around the house. That's the way to go unless you need the fields for something else.

Me and my FIL (now deceased) used to shoot beer cans out in the woods off the back porch. We didn't have any shots that long though. We had to go a mile down the road for that.

I enjoy being out in country more as I get a little bit older. I'm just not sure how much land I'd be willing to maintain because I know how much work it is.
