Exactly. When Cash and others expressed a point of view it was at the risk of their personal popularity and commercial appeal. Today's virtue signallers do it primarily because it brings them attention and acclaim from the media. Big difference.

So it’s both career suicide and selling out

The dude has been one of the most critically acclaimed and highly recognized songwriters of his genre for 15-20 years now. Could it simply be that settling down with wife and daughter made him think about what he was putting out a bit differently?

Who decides who receives these type of awards? Their peers, and if I"m not mistaken (I could be) I don't know that the Grammy voters get to vote only in their own genre...then my point is right? Most Grammy voters, musicians and people in the industry, SEEM to articulate "SJW" values.

Just admit that you don't know a goddamn thing about Jason Isbell and haven't heard his music.

You lucky SOB! Bingham doesn’t get enough love, I’m going to see Cody Jinks July 13 at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, the sight of the old Louisiana Hayride.

How many times have I received a non-leftist diatribe at a concert?
ZERO.

I’m not surprised that musicians like James Taylor would get political but I guess I’ve just been lucky to not see any of it. I don’t know how many musicians aren’t leftists but you’re right, I don’t know if any non-leftists spout politics during a show. Maybe some country acts back in the day but not probably not anymore.

Y’all are idiots. He didn’t commit career suicide.

Did you not know that career suicide =

Grammy
Artist in residence at the Country Music HOF
Selling out 5 nights at the Ryman last year, and 6 more this year.

All since the “career suicide” album came out, and all without major radio play.

Don’t take all of his songs as his true feelings. A writer of his skill often uses the narrative just to tell a story. While he certainly leans left if you listen to all of his lyrics he is definitely a good ole boy from the south.

Country music stars are even bigger pussies than the SJW you see on the street.

His main audience is Hillary voters.

They will eat this shite up and pat themselves on the back for being so enlightened.

exactly.
Just like Okie from Muskogee was Merle telling the story from his father's POV.

And I must live in a bubble. How can so many people who like music not know Jason Isbell? The truckers were on top of their game when he was in the band and his solo album, Southeastern, is one of the best albums of the last 30 years. Amazing talent.

No fear, you still have your ted Nugents and kid rocks of the world, and you can still get tons of skynyrd gear with the confederate flag. Maybe hit up a toby Keith show if feeling particularly persecuted by the BLM sign onstage at the truckers concert.

I’d guess your definition of liking music and theirs are likely quite different.

And as a native son of Greeh Hill Alabama he should be ashamed of himself, nothing more than a PC click sell out... Nashville has turned to shite because of the influx of "resettled refugees, Californians, trash from Ohio and Illinois that have all moved here in the past four years. This place is becoming a literal lib bastion of leftist hell.
