Obviously not in Jefferson Parish, which allows NO short term rentals. Not like that joke of a Parish to our east.

That's the way we want it here. We all paid good money to live in a nice neighborhood with single family houses, with great neighbors.

Don’t worry. Florida is going to run out of water (like in the toilet) after they get done with the Villages add-on abomination. That might make airb&b less attractive to the carpetbagging scum. Problem solved.

I guess it depends on what is considered a short term rental.

Generally, nationwide it is anything under a six-month lease. New Orleans defined it as anything under a 30 day lease, which is ludicrous.

Jefferson Parish is having none of that in residentially zoned areas. From the Parish's own website:

"...as a lodging accommodation business, short-term rental has greater potential negative impacts on a single-use residential neighborhood, including noise, traffic, and trash; and short-term rental is not compatible with the primarily residential character of many of the parish’s neighborhoods. Therefore, the parish prohibits short-term rental in single-use residential zoning districts."

"Single Use" means not just "single-family house" districts, but districts which are defined as residential use only (single use) which would also includes two family, townhouse, and multifamily (apartment/condo) zoning districts. No short term rentals are allowed in those, either.

"The parish also determined that, subject to use standards that mitigate impacts, short-term rental is compatible in mixed-use and commercial areas where residential and commercial uses are allowed to co-exist. Additionally, because short-term rental involves the business of lodging accommodation that caters to travelers and tourists, treating it like other lodging accommodation uses – hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast establishments – is appropriate; and short-term rental and bed and breakfast establishments should be subject to the same regulatory framework for safety, operations, licensing, nuisances, and taxation of hotels and motels."

This is the way.

yea...I would hate that. From sitting through some of the reality shows my wife watches, I've learned that a main function of air BnB are trashy poors who live in apartments renting them out to have get togethers. No frickin thanks

She made a snide comment about me startling her while smoking a menthol and drinking a Modelo on ‘her patio’.

While I understand her not liking the smoke, if smoking is allowed in the area you were in then she needs to be more aware of the rules and as long as the rules are on your side I wouldn't even worry about it.

Why would she be upset about someone having a drink. I assume this patio is a "community patio"?

But again, it all depends on the rules of the complex you live in.

Doesn't sound like she was anti smoking... sounds like this nubian brother startled her and she is being coy about wanting the bbc.
