It's why I hated to include high school. Generally, the top juniors dont play high school tennis.

The only matches they show up to are city and state. That's more of a you should do it for your school type of thing.

My coaches didnt allow us to play regular high school matches. There were 4 of us that went to 2 different schools. The only time we could go to a high school match was when our schools played each other because it was us four as the top 2 players against each other

Players on that level as a senior are taking games off of Serena. The very top are beating her.

No. Where did you get that from? My first hand knowledge was the level of tennis required to take on this feat as in I played tennis

Imo, and because most people arent familiar with junior tennis, the very top high school kids are taking points and games off of Serena

I specifically said in my opinion.

I think mostpeople would score a point. Even the pros make unforced errors. To play an entire match without at least one would be pretty amazing. (i.e. shed eventually hit one in the net or out.) Somebody who is decent qould probably win several points....but probably not a game.

If you've never played tennis, you arent sniffing a point unless she double faults.

She could hit second serves every time and you would never return one

A person that has never played might hit a few serves in at like 30 mph, which she could just casually hit back and win the point.

Link because that's what Djokavic and Federer we’re serving today. I don’t believe you

1 in 8 British men think they could

Well. That number is probably high but there are certainly a healthy number of men who could.

Their Jimmies can be rustled all they like but as I point out all the time.

The women's world record in the mile has stood for more than a decade. EVERY YEAR, at least a dozen high school boys in the US break it

With a few days practice yes.

An athletic man, with a little practice, can serve harder than anything the women will ever see on tour.

Wouldn’t be enough to beat her in a set, but enough to take a point.

Her best is 129mph, she's not serving 120+ every time though. Fastest male serves are 160+, which showes the difference in physicality between men and women tennis players.

She hit 128 mph once, 6 years ago, and doesn’t have anything recorded north of 123 mph again according to Wikipedia.

So it doesn’t seem like she consistently serves 120+ mph serves

Unless she had some sort brain fart double fault, absolutely not.

Now, I do think I could take some match play holes off an LPGA pro, even those like Lexi Thompson and the like.

And not one of them would go in even if they could hit it as hard

What are you doubting?

A person that has never played before is not picking up a racket and hitting a serve in with any speed.

But 30 mph is so slow. I honestly think anything’s hit and hit in play will be faster than 30 mph. Probably closer to 60 mph

They're going to be double faulting left and right every game until it's over. They will have to slow the speed down so much just to get it in.

Adults that have never picked up a racket are not getting any serves in with decent speed.

It's a very hard game to pick up as an adult and be good

30 MPH is extremely slow.

Not that there's much of a difference between that and something a bit faster for Serena.

If we're talking about throwing someone out there without ever playing, no lessons, nothing, then yes that would be a debacle.

But if you put a decently atheltic guy, give him a week to train, he would have a shot of putting a serve on or past her with enough pace that she makes an error over a 3 set match.

If it went straight points, straight sets, that's possibly 48 serves if I did the math correctly.

Never said it wasn’t and I’m not disagreeing completely. Just that 30 mph is so slow I don’t think an adult can possibly serve that slow.
