and if you don't think this situation happens you aren't paying attention.

just 2 weeks ago. my wife had a student of hers in the Klein ISD area killed by another student who was underage, high, without a license and the vehicle didn't have insurance either because the parent was an illegal.

who goes to jail here?
the news media buried it immediately. it never made the 5 o'clock news.

Yep, There are signs in the HOV lanes that state the fines are $341.00 for not having two passengers.

California also proposed a $3 tax every time you get a tire changed. Also a tax on bottled water. There are others as well.

Cali is a shithole.

This looks fake as hell.

But I would support. Driving isn't an inherent right. Shitty drivers, texters, idiots without insurance, etc should be punished

You forgot:

Here’s a more specific list of DMV laws for 2019:

Gender identity laws – The law allows people applying for a California drivers license or ID card to self-certify their chosen gender category of male, female or non-binary. Applicants who choose non-binary will receive an X in the gender category.

Motorized Scooters – This law no longer requires helmets for riders who are at least 18-years-old on motorized scooters. It also prohibits people from operating the scooters on a highway with a speed limit over 25 miles per hour unless within a class IV or class II bikeway.

Smog check changes and new abatement fees – The law expands smog check exemptions to vehicles that are up to eight model years old. During the additional two years, the vehicles will pay an annual $25 smog abatement fee.

Temporary license plate program – The law requires dealers to attach a temporary paper license plate on a vehicle at the time of sale unless the vehicle has a previously-issued license plate. The intent of the new law is to reduce the number of toll violations.

Driving under the influence, ignition interlock device – From January 1, 2019 through January 1, 2026, the law mandates that repeat offenders for DUI and first DUI offenders whose violations result in injury to install an ignition interlock device for a period ranging between 12 and 48 months.

Driving privilege for minors – The law repeals a juvenile court’s authority to suspend, restrict or delay the issuance of a drivers license of a habitual truant or ward of the state for up to one year. The law clarifies that any suspensions or delays reported prior to January 1, 2019, remain in effect.

Unsafe, unsecured loads on vehicles – The law requires the DMV to include at least one question addressing laws on driving with an unsafe, unsecured load in at least 20 percent of the knowledge tests.

I wouldn't mind some of those laws, but that is #FakeNews

Did the horrific grammar not clue you in?

There is a list of new laws on CA state website, it was posted just above.

Penalty not big enough for passing school bus.

That one should result in a suspended license.

$1000 and a loss of license for THREE years for using a cell phone while driving

I was on the 405 sitting in dead stopped LA traffic. I was reading a work email on my phone and a CHP officer pulled up on the side of me in the carpool lane and I had no idea.

I think he watched me read my email for a minute.

I looked over and saw him just staring at me. I slowly put my phone down and he gets on his loudspeaker and blares “GET OFF YOUR PHONE.”

There are some similar laws in the UK. David Beckham just had his DL suspended for 6 months for using a cell phone while driving.

quote:

The former England international and Real Madrid and Manchester United player used his phone while he was driving through London on Nov. 21. A witness took a picture of Beckham while he was looking at his phone. "Instead of looking straight forward, paying attention to the road, he appeared to be looking at his lap,"

But it wasnt only the using a cell phone violation that got him the ban.
quote:

A judge assessed Beckham a six-point penalty on his driving record. The penalty alone didn’t cost Beckham his license. The six points from the phone incident were added onto the six already on Beckham’s record for previous speeding tickets. Thus, Beckham’s 12 points crossed the threshold for a six-month driving ban.
