Could you ever testify against a sibling or simply rat them out to the police/authorities?

I was reading about Whitey and Billy Bulger. Kind of a cool story. I feel like a lot here know who Whitey is (especially since he was just killed in prison) and I'm sure a lot also know that his brother was the President of the Massachusettes State Senate and later President (or some equivalent title) at UMASS. He got in trouble I believe because it was discovered he had talked to his brother while he was a fugitive and didn't divulge any of that information to the police.

It had me thinking that I don't think I could ever send my brother, who is effectively my first and best friend in the entire world to jail no matter the crime outside of maybe something against my own parents. My brother is not a degenerate so I don't think I have to worry about this but I think I would go to jail before giving him up. Same goes for Mom and Dad. What does the OT say?

Depends on the relationship you have with them. I could send my mom or brother to the slammer in a heartbeat if they were guilty and I knew it. My dad.... maybe.

Yes, but I have a strained relationship with my family at best though.

I wouldn't rat on my brother for anything, except something heinous.

Like Law and Order: SVU type heinous.

I doubt it. Hate to say it but I'm probably leveraging them for dollars and retribution. Give me money and slay my enemy, Sis. Or else...

One time, my uncle, his son did some cop that was fricking his girlfriend. It caused a big to do in the neighborhood. His partner went around beating the shite out of everybody he knew, beat his brother arse at his own bar and beat up all the patrons, he even arrested my uncle just to get to him.

I would on my sister in a heartbeat.

It would have to be a terrible crime for me to rat on my brother.

Crazy how spouses don’t have to testify but brothers do. You can find a new wife, can’t replace your brother.

This. If he killed and ate some Brazilians I'd probably turn him in.

I remember filling out a Walgreens application when I was 16. They had a question part and 1 asked if you would turn your sister in, if you knew they stole something. I was a very honest kid so I thought about it and put no. They didn't hire me, I guess they wanted liars.

the only thing i could ever conceivably see myself ratting on a family member for would be child abuse/child porn related crimes. Otherwise, I ain't no narc.

Depends on the situation. My family members aren't degenerates but if they killed someone for no reason I would turn them in.

I wouldn't go looking to rat him or her out but if they asked, well...
