Thanks for the insight. I was just a teen at the time and the whole exchange was so sudden, while the parents were still processing everything. I know time is limited in those circumstances. It just turned me off to being a donor.

Of course. Hopefully I never have to be in that situation.

If somebody wants my black lungs after I die; they can have them. I wont be smoking anymore.

Yes, but obviously I hope it's a choice I never have to make.

my sister did and it was something that helped her cope with the loss. She was contacted by the recipient of my niece's heart valves and it brought my sister some peace. But that was my sister. I have no idea how I would feel. Dont even want to think about it

There is absolutely no truth to hospitals harvesting organs. That said, let's just say they're not quiiiiiiiite in as much of a hurry to save you.

One million percent I'd donate his. Sorry to be morbid, but if he's deceased and has a chance to save another child's life I wouldn't say no. It let's their legacy live on.

My sister teaches school. Two of her coworkers at the school lost their daughter at 14 very unexpectedly. They donated several organs and with hours were used in transplants.
They found great comfort in knowing she lives on. But a heart breaking situation.

Worked with a guy back in the late 80's that lost his 16 year old daughter in a car wreck. The family donated her organs and he would come to work after that with a letter to show us which of her organs had been donated. It seemed that was the only thing that kept the poor guy from going absolutely nuts. Was rather "uncomfortable" in the control room when he would do this, but, if it allow him to make it, then great.

Absolutely…I have watched a loved one die while on the transplant list while organs were buried that came from the very same hospital. A couple of posters on this website have passed while waiting for a transplant.

I may mangle this story but I’m pretty sure it’s correct. The dad has been on a few church retreats and his testimony his touching to say the least. The family is from back home in Monroe and they are big LSU fans who lost their young son and they donated his organs. I don’t know all the details of what actual organs went where except one of the recipients was another kid from Alabama whose parents I believe are big Auburn fans and now they are linked forever and get together for the game each Fall. Very moving.

My grandmother received a liver transplant from a 12 year old and I’m super grateful for it as I got an additional 12 years with her as a result.
It was super weird and obviously scientifically not possible but after this transplant she started loving birthday cake and lady taffy. We always checked it up to the 12 year old cravings

Not while they’re alive, no.

I understand that this rumor goes around but it's totally untrue. I received a kidney that I was told came from a "young person". Probably not a teen but likely younger than 30.
Think of it another way:
My entire goal through the hell of years of dialysis was to get to spend more time watching my daughter grow up. Someone lost a child, but in return another child got to keep their father.
I hope you never have to make this decision, but organs are useless to a deceased person. Unfortunately, the decision has to be made quickly, so it is best to know in advance what you would do.

Absolutely, I would hope that his or her's life would allow a family not to have to go through the agony of losing a loved one.

Yes
Doctors already kill kids with Covid shots why would they have any problem selling the organs after
