The shite in Portland requires thousands of absolutely worthless, disgusting gutterpunk white people who hate their parents and fancy themselves revolutionaries. The arrest photos look like they're dragging these people out of the sewer. They either look unhealthy or like freakshows or both.
Generally speaking, we don't have this in the South. Our white liberals tend to be professionals who have things to lose and they can't live in an insular bubble of absolutely batshit insane communists like you can in SF or Portland or Seattle. So not only will you lose your job or actually get prosecuted, a lot of your social circle will abandon you.
Honestly it's kind of the same as the "enclave" issue with immigrants and assimilation - the idea being that latinos in Texas can live in an all-hispanic complex, listen to spanish language radio, watch spanish language TV, eat only native food, go to 99% latino schools, etc.
In Portland, you can probably have a government job or some social advocacy job surrounded by others who went to college to major in SJW issues, go only to fringe leftist coffee shops and restaurants, hang out only in radical bars, listen to radical left radio, etc. There is no diversity of culture or thought and these people are often without prospects or meaningful relationships, which aids in radicalization (like with AQ, ISIS or any other extremist group).

Yeah Im with you. Im red as it gets but my blue friends who probably will vote for Biden even think 2a is important and think the violence deserves to be met with an equal defense if necessary.

Tell you what, there are too many black people in the South for it to get like that.
With all their cultural flaws in the US, they don't put up with weirdos much at all. shite, they're still very unaccepting of LGBT people. They certainly aren't going to be ok with a bunch of gender neutral, pink haired, fat, pasty, white people protesting their use of styrofoam at their local BBQ joint.

I thought it was funny when she said when they were taking over a federal building, setting fires, etc for 3 hours the police finally started shooting smoke bombs or maybe pepper spray and people were running and she heard people say "I can't believe the police would do this" and she was thinking to herself "really? Is it more liberal than other parts of the state, yep. Is it as liberal as a Portland, nope.
Austin is a lazy liberal town...there's no chance Austin is the next Portland, as I think the State would step in and say, 'Not today, Satan"...and shut anything like Portland down fairly quickly.

I have a childhood friend, and a cousin, that both live in Portland and that is not the picture they portray of it. Friend grew up in Alabama, graduated from Georgia Tech, and lives a relatively boring suburban life, while working downtown. He is liberal, but despises the Antifa folks. Cousin grew up in Ohio and identifies as libertarian. Also hates the Antifa folks.
Both say the protests and riots have been very isolated to certain streets and blocks, with an occasional one spilling into other areas of the city. Neither have expressed any fear or trepidation with going about their day to day life, though both admit there are problems with local leadership and police, and those problems have contributed to the current environment.

That could be an extra nipple but I think it is a special skin lesion that is exquisitely sensitive to testosterone. It gets darker and hairier over time in response to natural testosterone in the body.

If the leadership let the rioters riot and tied the hands of the police, it could happen just like Portland.
Lots of people have guns in the South, but let’s face it, no regular citizen is going to go shooting people unless their home is under attack.
So realistically, it probably wouldn’t be much different if the leadership didn’t crack down. The difference is that the local officials wouldn’t appease the rioters like they do in Portland. The city would take control of the streets in the South.
The only difference I could see is there might be more clashes between Antifa and some MAGA country boys looking to whoop some arse than there is in a place like Portland.
Lots of people have guns in the South, but let’s face it, no regular citizen is going to go shooting people unless their home is under attack.

That's pretty much what's been happening in Portland since Trump was elected, just substitute rural white Proud Boys with MAGA country boys. The recent BLM protests have put Portland under a stronger microscope, but the civil unrest has been happening there for nearly 4 years now.
