Could I get a touchscreen installed in a 2012 Kia Optima to have Apple CarPlay?

Is this doable? I have a new engine that was installed last year and don’t want to have a new car note.

I don’t see why not. Did your dash get stolen?

I’m impressed your 2012 Kia is still functioning!

No. I just got a job where I’ll be traveling all day in the city going to addresses I’m not familiar with. It would really help to have Apple Car Play.

Go to crutchfield.com and put in your vehicle details to see your options. If nothing turns up that suits your needs look for something like above.

Not a mount on dash. An installed touchscreen.

Amazon has plug and play systems that anyone can do.

Yes. Go to Best Buy and they will quote you. I've had it done on an older car for one of my kids.

I would like to know this as well….waze app + CarPlay + decent size screen = money.

Yes you can. It will cost more to get one that will do Apple Car Play or Android Auto over Bluetooth as opposed to having to plug it in. Probably worth it to spring for the BT.

Sure. I had a Pioneer system installed in my 04 Tundra to get Carplay and other things.

Go and find an OEM infotainment system from ebay. They're usually from totaled out cars and age will help total them faster if the wreck caused enough frame damage.
They're generally plug and play if you can get OEM part. Steering wheel controls for volume and such should work as well. Aftermarket systems will run the risk of not having complete steering wheel controls. It's fairly simple to install. Remove the plastic parts around the center with a proper wedge tool at their clips and you will have access to the screws. Unscrew, swap stereos, put back together.

Of course you could. But why?

Take your car up to Circuit City where service is state of the art and they will hook you up with a new Apple Car Play type radio receiver. Will probably cost you a couple hundred bucks

I got an aftermarket Pioneer system installed by BestBuy in my 2003 Porsche 911. I've enjoyed that system.

Why not a phone mount on dash or suction cup to windshield and just use gps app on your phone?

Go to Best Buy. You’ll need a head unit with a screen and CarPlay capability
