Yup. Buy 3 go phones, call in about a cop being shot at an apartment complex on the opposite side of the town... On each phone in different voices. Rob the bank 2 minutes later.

If I thought I could pull off a bank robbery, I guess I'd have done it by now

Nope. Absolutely not.

I'd get laughed out of the bank if I tried.

FYI - the door frames at banks have special sensors that set off the dye packs

As soon as you walk out of the door you're screwed

Sometime in the late 90's an armored truck hauling $Millions from the Marksville Casino to the Bank of Cottonport overturned and crashed. Both the driver and other security guard were seriously injured and knocked unconscious. Large bags of $$$$ were scattered along LA 1 and fortunately for the bank/casino all money was accounted for.

Best bet of getting rich fast would have been to be a first responder and grab as many bags possible and pray no one got your plate #

Not all bank branches use dye packs...

Sure. All it takes is having the right lawyers lobbyists, and politicians in your pocket. Wait, you were talking about walking in with a gun. Never mind.

Anyone with average intelligence and decent planning could pull off a bank heist. What would be the downfall of most is finding a way to launder the money and use it without being caught.

If I got away from the bank and they didn't have any leads that it was me, I could figure out how to spend the money.

Having to steal a getaway car and not being recognized and getting away from the scene would be the hard part. I'd think.

Most people saying they could cracks me up. the amount of money you would get in a quick smash and grab would in no way equal the risk of years in prison. If you went in as a crew, the money would need to be divided and you would need absolute trust in the other people. Others could rat you out no problem. Also in order to get enough money to be worthwhile, you would need to get into vault, which takes more time and effort. Then you would have to be willing to take a hostage and run the risk of shooting/being shot, not to mention having to get away. Would you be willing to take someone as hostage?, probably not. Then you have to launder the money and hope your crew doesn't do anything stupid, or just take them out, increasing jail time. Better off taking out something a little easier than a bank, with lower risk.

only 25% of bank robbers are caught. The ones that are are repeat offenders.

I agree. The money in the drawers just wouldn't be worth the risk and taking the vault is a whole other level.

Then they are going to see the car you leave in so you would have to dump it and burn it and then have another car waiting. All this with cameras everywhere in this day and age.

Risk is way greater than reward.

Now the electric department would have some major cash at the first of the month when everyone is making their payment, little to no security, if you could get in and out that might be worth the risk.

Use one of the crew as a hostage. He goes in before the bank is robbed so he looks like a regular joe and or shoot him with a non lethal round, hitting him in the chest full of fake blood. It will get their attention that you mean business. Once the bank is robbed he gets up off the floor. The cameras would have to be painted before hand so he isnt busted.

Getting into the vault is the part that takes longest but most banks I have been in , the vault is usually opened except for the barred door.

The easiest way to get away with this is having someone on the inside.

A buddy of mine named Bodhi got away with robbing banks in California for a little while. Him and his surfer buddies thought it would be a great idea. They wore masks of former presidents and were in and out fairly quickly. They kept doing it until one job went south and a few were shot and killed. He escaped in an airplane and come to find out some undercover agent infiltrated his group and that is where things went bad. My buddy eventually died trying to ride out some massive wave. It sucked to see him go out like that.
