Boomers- “stop living above your means. You could afford that house if you would just stop eating”

The problem with that graph is it is comparing Apartment rentals (and not home rentals) to buying a home.

When you graph comparing home rentals vs home mortgages, the gap narrows considerably. Another issue with this data is we live in a BIG arse country.

For instance, using the same data source (Reventure) for the median costs in the Houston metro area, Cost to Buy is $2159 a month while Cost to Rent a House is $2070 a month while Cost to Rent an Apartment is $1656.

This is the whole point in raising the federal funds rate. They are trying to get people to stop spending and borrowing to reduce inflation. Prices will inevitably drop when demand does. Simple economics.

That will slow down inflation but the root cause is the drastic increase in money supply due to Bidenomics and the total failure of Modern Monetary Theory.

That would be your fmv. Your assessed value woould be 150. Homestead exemption brings you down to 140.

Post your millage rates.

And who voted for the politicians that have created this mess?

This is why it annoys me when people shite on millennials and zoomers. They're being forced into serfdom due to criminal monetary policies.

they get shite on because they get wound up by charts that say nothing just like you.

The one glaring piece of missing info is value of property, it is shocking to think it cost more for a new build in the burbs than a rat infested apartment, how dare they.

Millennials and Zoomers would rather own the latest tech gadget than a home, it is their choice but stfu about it.

I think the real question here is, can you still get a 1800 sq. ft. home custom build. When we were house hunting it was almost impossible to get a builder on the phone. Most custom builders are working massive projects and aren't going to take the time to build what DR Horton/Milestone/Meritage can slap together in a couple of months

Exactly.

The oldest Millennials started voting in the early 00s.

This mess had existed for some time prior to that

Also, lots of politicians who were around in the early 00s are still in power. Note: not millennials (or Gen X)

So millennials have definitely not voted, during the last 20 years, for the politicians who caused this mess?

my house is 1600sf
I have room in the back for a similar sized house and at one time I considered it as a place for my in laws. Any of the “non-custom” build on your lot places like cretin homes have small floor plan houses.

Horton/DSLD or a mega custom builder are not the only options. shite you can pretty much design a small simple house yourself

lots of excuses in this thread, not much problem solving

A person asked “who voted for them”..the answer is Greatest Gen/Boomers/GenX/Millenials…I suspect the trend will continue

What do you suggest?

If you're looking for problem solving suggestions, forcing everyone 65 and up into retirement communities would solve some of it.

bingo. I'm just wondering why you ONLY singled out millennials earlier.

Because the person I replied to was suggesting they didn’t bear responsibility due to only having a 20 or so year track record of voting for the same idiots. Many millennials also suggest this with their “thanks boomers” comments while casting votes for Obama and Biden.
