1. How much did it cost you?
2. Recommend someone who did the work?(Baton Rouge area)

Ball n chain looking to get real wood blinds. Don't like the temporary paper ones from Home Depot.

Try blinds.com, they have wood blinds also

I did the faux wood, but there were super easy to deal with.

Might have to look in to that. Have over 20 windows in this house and the one quote I have so far was well over $3000.

The Faux wood ones weren't expensive at all and they aren't hard to hang, maybe like 15 mins per window. I haven't priced the wood (could be a LOT more), but I think I spent about $30 for average windows and maybe like $70 for our huge windows.

If you want to save a substantial amount of money, install them yourself (it's really easy). Just make sure you triple check the sizes before you order them.

You can buy them at home depot pretty reasonably and they are very easy to install, but the framework around the top wont be as nice as what you see in terms of options at blinds.com

I did Faux Wood from Home Depot for my house. I'd say they are less than $50 a blind from what I remember. It's super easy, just take your dimensions to them and they cut them in store. The only problem I had was with a window that was larger than what they keep in stock. It would have been several hundred dollars to order it, so I put up a curtin.

Definitely buy from a discount company. There are too many out there to pay "regular" price. I won't say how much it cost us to do our entire house bc it would scare you.

Well checking the blinds.com site makes me feel a little better about the quote. It looks like I'd be paying $2000-$2500 for materials looking at what they're offering. So if this quote is only like $500 labor I'm probably good with it. Reason being I'd probably frick something up and only save like $300 plus spend a whole weekend on this nonsense.

Looks like I'll be bending over and taking it. Better close the blinds...oh wait...close your eyes.

Got my real wood blinds from Lowes.

I had 5 Windows and 2 doors. (I put Roman shades on the doors.

Was $2,300 bucks, and that included them coming out to measure, and then coming back to do the install.

A person in that profession would say 10% of your home cost for blinds and custom drapes. But come on 20 grand? Jc penny has some nice stuff 10' and higher. I use Steve's blinds, for blinds. I just bought 3 Bali double cell blackout shades for the bedroom for $300. 3 Window sizes 3.5 x7.5

Faux wood is about $50 each for a large window up to 84" long and 35" wide. Much more expensive after that. Smaller ones are around $25-30. Easy to install. Home Depot has better selection than Lowes. They used to put coupons in change of address packages at the post office.

I used The Blind Lady, but I've used Wall Decor and More, both in Prairieville.

It's not cheap no matter how you slice it.

We bought wood blinds from Lowes. Brought them the measurements (after rechecking them about 4 times) and picked out what we wanted. We brought some samples home to make sure the color matched, then went and ordered the next day.

We also doubled up on a coupon we got in the mail plus a deal they happened to be running on store. I want to say we paid around $65/window. I hung them myself.

We also bought two plantation shutters from them, but let them do the measuring and install. Also used real wood there, but was a tad more expensive than the regular windows.

ETA We also had shades made for 7 windows, they don't give those away either.

You can pay as much or as little as you want for window treatments.

Get a quote on plantation shutters for the house. It will make you feel much better about the cost of the blinds.
