Cortana Mall: How long will it be before it closes?

Today we went to Cortana because the Aeropostale at the MallofLa ran out of medium school shirts. I had not walked through all of Cortana in at least two years (normally only go to Dillard's Clearance). I was amazed at the amount of stores that are vacant.
Here are the numbers:
58 available units are shut down; some are being used as window displays for other stores. 8 of these had signs promising "great new shopping experiences coming soon."
6 other available units are being used for the following: USPS, Air Force, Army, Community Service Center, Around Town (TV), and Virginia College.
The grand total of 64 store units are no longer retail spaces or have completely shut down.
After leaving the USMC and while in college, I had a part-time job (32hrs or less) at Foley's/Macy's. I was the assistant shipping and receiving manager for nearly 2 of those years. I was privy to the financial success of the store and the mall. The mall had 35 units not operating before Katrina. It was close to the end financially. Red Cross money/FEMA money/NOLA residents saved it.
After considering how the number of closed retail stores has nearly doubled, I have to wonder how long it will be before Cortana is gone the way of Bon Marche.
What are your thoughts? Memories? Whatever...discuss...

I like the Dillard's clearance thing. It's like I'm a treasure hunter.

I only go to the mall out of necessity or desperation. Maybe once a year.

Yep. I went there a year and a half ago just to see what it looked like and my god, it is a shite hole that's so awkward to walk in.

I haven't been to a traditional mall in years. I bet cortana is depressing as hell. Bon marche was like a morgue in its last few years
Edit. Didnt bon marche have a Dillard's or Maison Blanche clearance center in its final years? Having one of those is like a death knell.

That store only lasted 5-7 years.

Most malls are heading this way, if not already there like this one.

My friend Paul and I went to see GoldenEye at Bon Marche in 97(?). That was an odd experience...a theater...arcade...Foot Locker...urban hat store...maybe Taco Bell...
