Did no one here take economics class? If it’s sold out everywhere it shouldn’t cost $1 it should cost $7.
He didn’t know where else to get it so he went to retail stores in remote towns that would have never sold what they had.
I just don’t see the problem with it. After gas, vehicle wear, and Amazon fees he’s not going to clear that much. The people on Amazon who wanted a product were able to get what they wanted.

If $70 is too high, he will be stuck with a surplus.
If people will pay $70, they're getting a fair deal.

If stores had restricted quantities that can be purchased by a single customer, this wouldn't be a problem.
It's about a 4 billion dollar a year market. This guy had about 100,000 dollars worth of this market.
He didn't come close to scratching the surface.
Don't want to sell out? Raise your price.

Think this cat was selling single Hiney's for MSRP?

Totally agree. I feel like I've stumbled into a Luddite colony.

I'll bet a hundred bucks if this guy bought from warehouses with a legal business license you would call him a respected businessman.
Stop moving the goalposts. What these guys did is remove the supply from their geographic area and put it all in one place, under their control.
The demand has increased because of hysteria. They used that hysteria and the bad retail policy to temporarily cut the supply and skyrocket demand.
That's not capitalism. That is profiteering.
If they had a business license and were allowed to buy up all supplies from distributors and manufacturers, that would also not be capitalism. That would be crony capitalism.

Be interesting to see their tune if water companies were released from pricing regulations. What price point do you think water would settle on, and how happy do you think you’d be with that? But hey, no government intervention! Just simple supply and demand and ignoring any other factors!

Did you ignore my post about if this should apply to wages?

People like him are the reason stores have run out.
Dude, nobody needs you to explain why he did. It's not hard to figure out. It's just extremely unethical.

The regulations create monopolies and create artificially high prices. More competition means lower pricing.
When you grow up and learn basic Econ, these concepts will make sense.

Right, if drinking water costs $1000 a liter and people buy it, it's obviously a fair price.

Dumbest statement in this thread by far.

the average IQ in Louisiana is disturbingly low. Folks like to pretend it’s because of culcha, but let’s be real here; you have some of the most retarded white people in the country.
It's amazing at how many people here claim to be educated but can't understand the basics of economics. It's embarrassing.

No, the regulations have been manipulated by large companies who have money to influence lawmaking, and thusly have created monopolies.

You do want to sell out, but to people who will actually use the items. Not some a-hole who is going to hoard them and sell then off for insane mark ups.
Even trying to apply normal "market principles" to this scenario while ignoring that this isnt a normal market is just sad

Pot meet kettle. Most of the south is below average.

this isn’t anti-government. You simply don’t understand economics, which isnt surprising.
The market is regulated. Welcome to the real world -- it isn't your Econ 101 classroom.

Deliberately creating a shortage like this POS did is not a matter of supply and demand like the free market worshipers like to spout off.
