No I came up with a trend chart in log scale and made the mistake of posting it in the numbers thread in the policave. The numbers and trends presented are not favorable at the moment, and were confirmed tonight, again.

Only then was I called a doomcaster and accused of wishing millions dead. At least one person (who will remain nameless) claims I pray for millions dead every night.

Some people are just in total denial.

Eta: It seems I have a loyal fan club downvoting all of my recent posts.

With you 1000%. The number of people that are more upset by having a shelter in place is startling.

The deaths are there, but the cases are behind for what should be the second day. Tomorrow La would need to post 700+ positive cases to get back on that curve.

I think the lockdown in New Orleans and Louisiana is paying off. New York, on the other hand, yikes... That's going to be a monumental undertaking to contain.

Testing is a clown show. I someone who almost certainly has it and couldn’t get a test after waiting 3 hours in line today. This is in the New Orleans area.

addition, Mayor Bill de Blasio's office says at least 2,850 are hospitalized with at least 660 in the ICU.

30k ventilators for 660 ICU patients
isn’t the rate of infection increasing by two-fold every three days in NY? Do the math- how quickly would that get to 30k? In about a month that could swell to over i million- that is if increase in icu patients grew at the same rate as the overall infection rate did and of course it continued unmitigated.

Almost 2 weeks. Assuming nothing changes.

Which it won't.

Also that would assume these ventilators are single use. Which they aren't.

Nah. You want an internal medicine or emergency department resident.

They’re like Farmers Insurance, they’ve seen a thing or two.

Derm/rads/anesthesia had to do a preliminary year in internal medicine. The 2nd years are definitely who we'd need to call upon.

Spain reported its deadliest day yet with 738 fatalities, taking the total death toll to 3,434. Total cases rose to 47,610 from 39,673.

Spain is smaller than Italy, and Spain's new cases reported today is higher than any day that Italy has had. For deaths, 738 would've been Italy's 3rd-worst day. I would much rather be in Italy right now than Spain. Italy seems to have peaked, while Spain's cases and deaths are still rapidly climbing.

Just some basic hospitalization stats from Ohio. That 25% hospitalization mark seems be pretty consistent. Hopefully it will go down as testing includes more of the population.

Testing, especially rapid testing, is about to really ramp. Numbers are going to explode most places, but I don’t think that necessarily means new spread.

Lots of number noise out there

I think we are also witnessing the next mass seeding event in the US. As New York shutdown, many residents fled the city and spread out across the country. Many went back their hometown to stay with family and friends or to a second home. The Florida governor has ordered anyone coming from New York to self quarantine for 2 weeks and the administration has also urged anyone leaving New York to self quarantine. According to Dr. Birx, more than 60% of new cases are coming from New York metro.

Hopefully these people do the right thing, but we all know that many won't. I'd put money on new outbreaks happening around the country from this mass exodus.

I was talking to the wife about this last night. We have several friends that live in New York that have fled back home to Nashville, Jackson (MS), and New Orleans.

I think, judging by their instagrams, that they are self-quarantining, but who knows how well. I definitely agree that people fleeing NYC and California hot spots are about to spread this fricker in new places.

We self quarantined 2weeks ago when we returned home from Santa Clara but now we’ve decided to continue because family and friends are still going about their life fairly normal. My sister-in-law is showing houses to a lady from New York today.
