30k ventilators for 660 ICU patients

You understand that many folks who fall ill will need ventilators for several weeks right?

You are an idiot.

On a normal day, several thousands of non-Asian Americans travel to China or back every day of the year.

ETA: please never vote for anything.

I mean, you realize one of the reasons Lombardy Region is cited with having such a large outbreak is because of the direct connections to China.

Finally got a chance to look, 27.7% of Vancouver is listed as Chinese.

Not to quote Bill Burr, but noticing there were a lot of Asians isn't racist.

Jesus.

Hoarders may be about to be justified.

One hidden thing of note: this still hasn’t gotten to full population saturation. It’s still spreading and growing exponentially.

And for those who love to compare to flu as a basis of relevance: that per day death total is twice that of flu’s average.

New York is starting to look like our Lombardy.

Flu is not that bad though.

Should we consider flying in nurses from rural America (that won’t be hit hard) to New York, New Orleans, etc?

It's not racist, but it is ignorant.

Race doesn't spread disease, travel does.

Already being done. Lots of travel nurses called in.

Granted they can't be forced.

Okay. And this thing keeps putting it in the rear view

Seriously, exactly how many places in how many countries must go to shite to get people here to recognize it’s on it’s own tier from the seasonal flu.

Or is it just all of them outside of the poster’s hometown.

Alright, so you think ethnic Chinese in Vancouver are more or less likely to travel between China than, say Nebraskans?

Covid is on it's own level.

Just saying that more than half of adult Americans don't even take the flu vaccine.

Sounds wonderful.

Except in my opinion, I rather recruit the 2nd year dermatology, pm&r, radiology and anesthesia residents who aren't doing much to be interns again rather than teaching new interns how to intern.

Hell, in some areas they're already doing that.

Pretty much.

I think I'm going to have to take a break from reading the ignorance on this site for a while. Its just been so frustrating. I feel like the people who are the most scared are probably the ones in denial.

American business people are more likely to travel frequently to China than Asian Americans are to travel to China for non-business reason.

I go every quarter. My favorite small Chinese restaurant, whose owners daughter used to babysit my kids, is being shunned and they haven't been to China in over ten years.

Maybe I'm too close to it but it pisses me off for them.

Nah. You want an internal medicine or emergency department resident.

They’re like Farmers Insurance, they’ve seen a thing or two.

Seems like only a week ago we were being told you can't shut down the country over 60 total deaths. And here we are...

I think you are way to close to this and getting offended over nothing.

Vancouver has a lot of Chinese. Would stand to reason that since there is also a lot of Chinese investment that there is a lot of traffic between the two.
