Not to mention, thousands of Chinese likely visited NYC, LA, Disney, in the time that the virus was breeding.

And like has been mentioned, if obesity, diabetes, heart disease are a factor in severity then we could be in big trouble if spread gets out of control. At that point you're not quarantining "old people" anymore.
Diabetes is definitely mentioned as a risk factor for increased severity. I'm sure obesity and heart disease is as well.

Who has the image showing the comparison of the US and Italy trend lines? I know it’s been posted a ton. TIA
You just helped me discover something amazing. If you use the "site" function to google the address for an entire thread, and then click on images, you get to see every single picture in the thread!

To do a whole thread, copy and paste any page, and then just delete the page number at the end!

Walking home from work.
Feel kinda lightheaded.
Thinking about passing out in hopes of a thread title change to “PEOPLE ARE COLLAPSING IN THE STREETS OF ATLANTA”

That is a good story MadDogs.
I do wonder if the number of true cases is an order of magnitude higher than what we think in the US. That would be a good thing in a way.

The US also has 5 times the population.

Based on the criteria for testing, there is essentially no way that our numbers aren't being underreported.

quote:Problem with that is nobody knows how long this has been going around. Many cases likely chalked up to flu. And what was their method to identifying potential exposures, given the possibly long incubation time, lack of symptoms in many cases, etc?
They tested the potential exposures, even if asymptomatic.
Last I checked, SK had tested 0.5% of the population. Do you honestly think they have identified anywhere close to half of the actual number of infected people?

We need to cancel the 2020 presidential election this year as well. We simply cannot take a chance on roughly 100 million people out and about at election booths in one day.

Is that really reasonable without any question whatsoever?
Understood. The choices are basically hope our circumstances/outcomes would be different than Italy or try to take more drastic action.
When the numbers started to move, I knew which direction they would take. Of course they have been going back and forth with second guessing whether it seems worth it.

If you continue that graph it continues to match very closely. Italy was at 3,800 cases by day 13. We are at 3,500 right now (Day 13 for the US).
Posted on 3/16/20 at 5:01 pm to CivilTiger83
We're at over 4500 cases now according to worldometer

Leave the thread dude, you’re absolutely cluttering it up. Some of us actually like to have real conversation about what’s going on.
WE GET IT, you aren’t a believer. You don’t need to post your disagreements with everyone daily.

On January 19, 2020, a 35-year-old man presented to an urgent care clinic in Snohomish County, Washington, with a 4-day history of cough and subjective fever. On checking into the clinic, the patient put on a mask in the waiting room. After waiting approximately 20 minutes, he was taken into an examination room and underwent evaluation by a provider. He disclosed that he had returned to Washington State on January 15 after traveling to visit family in Wuhan, China. The patient stated that he had seen a health alert from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) about the novel coronavirus outbreak in China and, because of his symptoms and recent travel, decided to see a health care provider.
