I've literally told you multiple times I consider some to be an overreaction

Some I understand, mostly to my understating of risk assessment and liability

I don't view all of these things as equal, which is why I have a problem with your reductionist argument

No, it's just comical.

I hope he doesn't have it. Even with no other medical conditions, I'd guess the risk of developing into worse than the flu is pretty high for a 72 year old.

Well you need to pre lube your arse

But I expect you will be fine from a macro perspective . But there are hourly workers who will not be fine. But if it saves one 84 year old it’s worth it

Based on the hysteria this year, absolutely.

I'm generally a the truth is somewhere in the middle type of person. I believe those that say "it's just a bad cold or the flu" are as delusional as the end of mankind as we know it crowd.

Its actually not. About a 90% chance it doesn’t develop into something worse than flu like for a 72 year old

But don’t let that fact get in the way of anything

we will develop a vaccine and the population will eventually build up natural immunity

but it will probably come back next fall though

As do I.

There's a lot of middle ground to deal with here. You can understand something is somewhat serious and still think the overreactions are going to be worse than the disease.

Glad the UK is putting out this information. Need more countries to do this.

This is helpful.

Still, assuming 4% are serious, and even 7% of the US population gets it (as did flu last year), you are still looking at 840,000+ hospitalizations, almost 4 times the normal flu.

Which leads me back to my real point here. Obviously thats not numbers to panic over, but I think it's worth it to pay attention and get ready in the event this thing spikes.

Let’s go crazy here

Let’s say 1 million people die this year, with those 1 million people being heavily skewed to those who are old, well past working age

Grinding our lives and economy to a halt for 0.3% of our population(once again heavily skewed to older as well) makes no sense

And that’s going WITH shite HIT THE FAN NUMBERS

It means the deaths in the US are statistically insignifican based on total population.

Maybe we have it backwards. Since an Australian and a Brazilian have tested positive since visiting the WH, it's possible someone there is an asymptomatic spreader.

Sure. It doesn't mean as much as the 10 people in critical condition out of the 1,750 active cases though.

In case you're wondering, that's projecting out to a .5% mortality rate going forward.

I think one thing the media/influencers or what ever you want to call it has done to help spread the fear is they gave death a face to people. “Your grandma” “your old mom” etc etc. So many “educational” memes on Facebook with cute little old people

Sure i would be a wrecked if a family member died from this, but your don’t make economic and commerce decisions by giving death a personality, it needs to be a blank face with a number

You said he was wrong about the timeframe of deaths

The graph clearly shows 40 deaths in a week

*2 weeks

it shows 30 deaths in a week

be sure to get this right, we don't want to cause too much of a panic
