Yeah, you want those things to slow the progression but yet you keep the personna of “oh just let everybody from China, Italy, etc keep coming and going as usual, everybody sing kumbaya together in a 10,000 person circle, let’s have Woodstock every week etc.”
I get it
I get it

It’s not like it’s a bad assumption that it’ll slow way down in warm weather like every other coronavirus ever.

Come on! Why else would Italy lock down the entire country at massive economic cost for both Italy and the EU

Who said anything about what I wanted? You’re the one who obviously wants to try and catch me crawfishing simply because I agree that stopping travel from the source country slowed the spread. Which is just a simple fact.

1. Have they mentioned risks to pregnant women/fetus?
2. Do we know what % of people with COVID19 are asymptomatic? I'm guessing we need more testing before we know this, but is there an estimate?
3. Has there been a single death in the Western world of a non-elderly or non-immune compromised individual?
1. None. From studies out of China. Take with a grain of salt.
2. Very rare according to WHO, like < 1%. Reports of that came from people diagnosed early with no symptoms who later became symptomatic.
3. Some countries aren’t releasing as much demographic information as others, if so it’s been a very small percentage

And I also would be totally fine with continuing travel to italy and Anywhere else. Hell, I‘ve saved so much in flights I’m taking in the next 5 months, I could easily add that trip this year to Italy my wife wants.

Jon Rothstein just said the Ivy League is canceling the conference tournament because of the virus.

I find it ironic that those who have been claiming “it’s just a cold” are gradually coming to grips with the fact that aggressive measures help to keep this from getting out of control.
I find it ironic those that are pretending the sky is falling are ignoring that China has basically stopped the spread of this

The Sharks could be playing in front of an empty stadium too when they return home on the 19th.

The WHO asymptomatic numbers just don't seem to align with reports elsewhere. Aren't there a number of folks who've been interviewed from Europe or California who were positive but never had any symptoms?
I know that's anecdotal, and I understand why the original asymptomatic conventional wisdom may have been off, but the WHO's claim here still seems odd.

It’s obvious what you want. You want there to be aggressive measures with hardly any cases so you can say “see I told you they exaggerated about nothing.” Haha
You deep down know what it would be like if there were no restrictions about anything.
Can’t play along anymore right now. Gotta go

The sky isn't falling but if we have to respond in any manner even close to the way they did then the sky will be falling.

Seasonality of SARS-CoV-2: Will COVID-19 go away on its own in warmer weather?
quote:
The short answer is that while we may expect modest declines in the contagiousness of SARS-CoV-2 in warmer, wetter weather and perhaps with the closing of schools in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, it is not reasonable to expect these declines alone to slow transmission enough to make a big dent.
quote:
Myth 1: In 2003, SARS went away on its own as the weather got warmer.
SARS did not die of natural causes.
quote:
Myth 2: The “common cold” coronaviruses are seasonal, with little transmission in the summer, so SARS-CoV-2 will be too.
quote:
Factor 1: The environment.
quote:
Factor 2: Human behavior.
quote:
Factor 3: The host’s immune system.
quote:
Factor 4: Depletion of susceptible hosts.
quote:
So in summary:
For the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, we have reason to expect that like other betacoronaviruses, it may transmit somewhat more efficiently in winter than summer, though we don’t know the mechanism(s) responsible. The size of the change is expected to be modest, and not enough to stop transmission on its own.

It will be interesting to see if we'll get a 2nd wave there once the country has fully went back to work.

If it were up to you, they should have done nothing. Then you celebrate “see it’s under control.” Yet too dumb to see that connection. Just like ell.

Ive literally never once advocated for aggressive measures. I just found it ironic that on one hand people are critical of this admins response while ignoring that what they’ve done so far has worked in terms of the death rate. That’s it. You really really really want me to backtrack so badly that you took a simple fact I acknowledged and turned it into me wanting aggressive measures like shutting down an entire country for no reason.

Dear MrLarson,
Hope you and your family all good.
As WHO statistics, US's confirmed cases rose to 687 as of Tuesday, it's time to do some preparations to fight against the noval coronavirus. We China already got a big and sad lesson... but anyway, it's gone after 30 days of 1.4 billion people struggling together, most factories are back to regular working now.
I care much about you over there, dear, but the virus is preventable, controllable and treatable, friendly suggestions,
Wear mask in public area
Wash hands frequently
Ventilate more
Gathering less
Keep one meter with anyone outside
No shake hands with anyone outside
Disinfect home and workplace with 75 degree alcohol every day.
The best way is to stay at home if no necessary out.
If you need some masks, let me know, I'll send some to you free, for my friend only, not for commercial use.
FWIW I think we are going to see some type of quarantine here before it's over. Too many people are freaking out like a couple million people are going to die.
