That is the sort of stuff that is infuriating to me.

Prediction of “8.2 million critically ill” and hundreds of thousands dead.

Do people actually believe that insanity?

Again, giving out predictions like that serves zero purpose.

My prediction:

As summer arrives, the virus transmission abates and essentially vanishes.

Whether it becomes a recurring infection is unknown, but it will reduce significantly as we reach warmer weather.

Do you think that’s an accurate count as of the time you respond.

Is this the longest thread in TD history?

I'm honored to have been part of the first page. Response #4, to be exact. I mean, it didn't age very well but first page nonetheless

That was an argument against someone saying “it’s just the flu”

For the millionth time, it’s possible for it to be worse than the flu but also nothing to panic about. Stop inventing panicked people in your mind to attack.

You are way behind on reading. When you catch up you will understand why there are way more than 600 people infected.

Saying it’s not just the flu and inferring that the US will have 8.2 million critical cases is not the same thing.

It might be 603 as of now.

Granted. I was a little over the top. I apologize.

Absolutely not.

We are likely in the range of thousands.

At this point, tracking all of them would be impossible unless we test every cough.

Which is largely reassuring to me.

If I give you the first one, can you explain what the variables are that prevent you from saying it will become a recurring infection?

80% of whom will be asymptomatic the entire time it is in their system. And while it's true they will still be contagious, the vast majority of the people they come into contact with and infect will never know they had it either.

I woke up with a sore throat this morning and there is a confirmed case in the county I live in. For all I know...I could have the virus.

I would be more confident if it were Scruffy's prediction and not yours.

There seems to be some real disconnect about the likely numbers exist that but aren't identified and also recover ultimately decreasing the mortality rate.

Your reading comprehension is surprisingly worse than your math. The guy said it was nothing more than the flu and posted the flu infections per year. I simply said if we had that many infections of corona we would have x amount of critical cases based on the statistics we had at the time.

I would have never said anything if morons like you would stop coming in and telling us it’s just the flu

I come here for the numbers and travel restriction updates.

The back and forth between the 2 extreme (and although they are the minority, they are the most vocal) sides is just guilty pleasure filler between updates.

I don't think some people are going to like you posting stuff like this.

I mean, there are a multitude of viruses, including coronaviruses, that are present within our society that don’t rise to the level of “recurring infection”, IMO.

Influenza is the one I’m mainly placing in that category, along with RSV for infants.

The others are out there, but don’t reach levels seen by those for various reasons, some of which include herd immunity and decreased infectivity over time.
