London scientists paying 4500 to get the Coronavirus. For the tough guys in here who want it.
“BREAKING NEWS: Get PAID to have coronavirus: Scientists in London will pay volunteers $4,500 to be infected in experiments to develop a vaccine for the deadly virus. Participants will be injected with two weaker strains of the coronavirus. Some 20 vaccines are in development.”

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. (KRON) – The first COVID-19 death has been reported in Santa Clara County on Monday, according to the Santa Clara Public Health Department.
An adult woman in her 60’s was in the hospital for several weeks, officials say. She was the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in the county who had not traveled internationally or had contact with an already infected patient.

Three deaths so far in the US not in WA.
Two of the Florida deaths were elderly.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a single healthy person hasn’t died yet in the US from this. That will change in the coming months but I think the economic impact will be worse than the actual health impact.

This thing is everywhere. Once we start actually testing people the mortality rate will go way down.
AGE DEATH RATE
80+ years old 14.8%
70-79 years old 8.0%
60-69 years old 3.6%
50-59 years old 1.3%
40-49 years old 0.4%
30-39 years old 0.2%
20-29 years old 0.2%
10-19 years old 0.2%
0-9 years old no fatalities
Cardiovascular disease 13.2%
Diabetes 9.2%
Chronic respiratory disease 8.0%
Hypertension 8.4%

no pre-existing conditions 0.9%

That data is well over a week old and is still heavily impacted by 3rd world data.

That isn’t bad money.

Top Coronavirus Doctor in Wuhan Says High Blood Pressure Is Major Death Risk
Would love to see data on what BP levels are at greatest risk. Are they talking those that are 130/85ish or higher levels. I feel like most elderly patients have at least minor hypertension.

I would think anyone taking heart meds would be in that category, though I don't claim to be a doctor.

That could be an issue for a population where over a third of adults are obese.

Did you even click your link?
It only sites two sources. Both older than 2/24. And both only containing Chinese data. And the website itself hasn’t been changed in 10 days.
This is why you can’t be taken seriously. You pick and choose data that is known to be bad and/or incomplete to try and prove this is the worst thing ever. You WANT it to be bad.

The guy who can't do basic math doesn't get to say who can and can't be taken seriously.

Aren't you supposed to be practicing proportions and fractions?

quote:the chances of a 0-49 year old with no pre-existing conditions dying from this is pretty much zero. That is a majority of the country, of course the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions are more at risk of death, as is the case with the Flu as well.

I posted this yesterday:
It's from Saturday and based on the deaths on March 6th (155 deaths).
LINK ( in Italian)
As regards virus-related mortality, the updated data confirm those of the first study. The average age of COVID-19 positive and deceased patients is 81.4. There are 48 women (31.0%). The average number of pathologies observed in this population is 3.6. Deaths occur mostly after 80 years and in people with important pre-existing diseases: in detail, mortality is 14.3% over 90 years, 8.2% between 80 and 89, 4% between 70 and 79, 1.4% between 60 and 69 and 0.1% between 50 and 59, while there are no deaths under this age group. Overall, 21 patients (15.5% of the sample) had 0 or 1 pathology, 25 (18.5%) had 2 pathologies and 70 (60.3%) had 3 or more pathologies; for 19 patients it has not yet been possible to recover the information.
It looks even more skewed toward the older population than the Chinese deaths.

What percentage of the country is obese, diabetetic, has heart issues, and/or smokes regularly?
Or should I say what regions of the country typically follow those traits?

This is the shite that happens daily here with high schoolers. Had one cough directly on me while walking by my room the other day and wanted to murder him.
I don't want schools to close because it would suck but I 100% understand why it could be necessary to slow the spread to more manageable levels.
