South Korea numbers with their widespread testing make most sense to me. And yes they show the lowest mortality of the bunch.
Lowest mortality rate of the bunch? That'll disappoint some posters.

It’s 0.068%
But it’s over 50 so I give y’all an extra hundredth. 1% of 7000 is 70.

The US has 22 deaths out of 603 cases to date. 17 of those deaths are from a nursing home in Washington state. We already know that aged people are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. For the rest of the cases it seems like the US healthcare system is doing a pretty good job so far.
Spain has 979 cases with 25 deaths to date. Again, the very old and infirmed are the ones at risk. It sucks but the threat to the general population and the healthy seems very low.
Unfortunately, I'm probably at a higher risk. I have stents in my heart and am diabetic so I'm being cautious.

South Korea had 7300 cases. Less than 10% needed hospitalization. Just over 50 died. The mortality rate... 0.08%
South Korea’s numbers look great. Especially their critical numbers. But we aren’t doing half of what SK is doing. I don’t think we should expect to do nothing and end up like South Korea.

Have they traced how the virus was initially introduced to that nursing home? I can't recall having seen that info.

Dude has to be trolling if he can't calculate a percentage correctly. This thread needs a culling of the none constructive/inaccurate members.

Is this really that hard?
50/7300=.0068
You think thats .068%? Come on.

South Korea and the US documented their first cases around the same time.
Compare how many tests each country has done since then.

The most troubling part of Covid is how many people have trouble calculating percentages. Multiply by 100, people.

It’s a mortality rate not an infection rate. As long as we are treating those who get sick, our numbers won’t be any different. You can’t just ignore them because they tested a ton.
The first world numbers come out equal to the flu. We don’t do shite for that.

It’s hard to be sick like I am now, and have many of the textbook symptoms, have numerous interactions with people that have recently been to Asia, and not be just a little bit curious about what it is, right ? But unless I have a very high temperature ( currently low and holding) or shortness of breath,I’m just going to assume it’s the common cold. I mean I had a bout of flu/bronchitis two years ago in Bangkok that literally almost killed me. This just sucks. I can live with a little suck. This feels like every other time this has happened. Plus Mrs Pimp has recovered from the same except for the coughing.
TLDR, It’s normal to be curious about the nature of your illness.

So if we have 50 deaths and 7300 people tested you think the percentage is...?

I do think we will see some generalized quarantine measures in the US though. Again, taking somewhat burdensome but not unreasonable precautions will go along way in making sure we don’t get into a situation like Italy or Wuhan where the medical system gets overloaded.

LMAO wrong again buddy. Math is hard.

You’re right. 0.68% I got it wrong.

I’m honestly embarrassed.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Why are you jumping on my arse?
50/7300 = .00684 x 100 = .684%
Like I said

Just wanted to make sure everyone can do 5th grade math here

Singapore is still astounding to me. 150 cases. 9 critical. 90 recovered. 0 deaths still.
