From a WP article on the cover-up:
quote:
Although Chen had all the symptoms of the coronavirus that is spreading across China and beyond, she is not counted on the official list of those who have died as a result of the infection. Her death certificate, which her family showed to The Washington Post, reads “severe pneumonia.”
But hospital staff told her stepson, Kyle Hui, that they strongly suspected she had “that” kind of pneumonia. At the crematorium, where the workers were in hazmat suits, Chen’s body was immediately incinerated without a proper farewell, and the vehicle it arrived in was disinfected.

East Asia reporter William Yang:

Update - Locals in #Wuhan are saying that despite having 1000 beds at the new hospital, no one in the city think that is enough to host all patients contracted #WuhanCoronavirus, because the actual number of infected individuals is way more than that.

@AFP #BREAKING China imposes travel ban on more cities, restricting 56 million people LINK
Hey GM do you mind posting more info on this new travel ban? Which cities, what is banned? Trian, air, roads? Etc. Thank you. Our internet has severally slowed down and I cant get to our VPN

Saw this linked on the r/china_flu and thought it might be worth discussing.
A bit better than 3.8 but still very worrying.

With lots of uncertainty in both case data and model uncertainty, R0 estimates will be changing rapidly. Important to update and monitor. We've updated our estimates with case data through 22 Jan. New estimated R0 of 2.5 95% CI 2.4, 2.6. Paper to be updated asap. #coronvirus

You should probably take a break from this thread, you seem to be irrationally angry and irritable about all of this.

A little levity on looking at just the numbers:

Pneumonia is usually what ultimately kills you. It's the same with SARS and the flu in the US. Common practice.
Could you be any more of a dick?

Honkus,
Is it possible to just hoof it 15 miles to the airport?
Pack a small bag with your important stuff and double time it. Bring some extra socks, underwear, toothbrush, and GTFO.

The AFP tweet has no details. Sorry you think that means I'm angry.
ETA -
No story link, no details of the cities, nothing that can help Honkus. But I'm angry for passing that along to him.
It's like trying to get information from a jjdoc thread.

What's wrong with what I said? Putting pneumonia on death certificates isn't the last bit shocking since it's the typical cause of death in these situations. That in and of itself doesn't imply any sort of cover up.
Pretty clear that only conspiracy theories and doomsday posts are wanted here, so I guess that makes me a dick. Being optimistic makes me a dick, imagine that.

I can not find anything listing new cities added to a possible new travel ban Honkus. I did get a search result showing a reddit thread by that exact title. However, the mods had removed the OP and entire thread. Hopefully that means this is an inaccurate report.
Good luck to you and your family!

Thanks for the link.
It's crazy to me that people across the world think you can get a cold from being out in the rain. I thought that was limited to American mothers.
quote:
WK: I told him I work in sales near Hankou railway station. It was not far from my home and only a few hundred meters away from Huanan Seafood Market. I rode my bike home every day. I never went in the seafood market, but I was at a grocery nearby on 22nd. It was raining that day. I didn’t bring a rain jacket or an umbrella. I thought I caught a cold from that. The early symptoms of pneumonia and common cold are identical.

Good luck Honkus... I was in HK 4 days ago. Got out just when it was starting to gain steam. I’m glad I got out when I did bc who knows what the US will do in restricting inbound flights from China.
I’m in SG and flying back tomorrow, but def brings a hypochondriac and waiting for something symptom wise to happen ??. Although it’s been the 3 days incubation time, I know that’s changing rapidly.
