I can assure you the numbers coming out of China are a lie

Building a 1000 bed hospital to handle 100k cases seems unwise then.

Look at those pictures. Have you ever seen 79 excavators successfully prepare a foundation? No they are all just moving dirt around.

The difference between a multiple of 3 vs 4 is huge. That’s why they said controlling the outbreak will be substantially harder.

Sure, but SARS is more contagious than the flu, and despite bungling it worse than this, there were still only 8,000 cases. In other words, it may take more effort, but they’ve been pretty effective stopping it when they actually put the effort into it.

“As shown in this study, it is still crucial to isolate patients and trace and quarantine contacts as early as possible because asymptomatic infection appears possible,” the report said.

Why? You said “millions,” but it’s not even a million using your bloated figures, neither of which is very plausible in and of themselves.

What we need to keep in mind is the lab tests for this virus are slow. Even if there were 10,000 or 100,000 cases, only a very small fraction of those would be confirmed by now. Add that with the reports of them covering up cases by putting "pneumonia" on the death certificate and expediting cremations.

I'm clearly outnumbered in this thread. I'll leave y'all to hoping for more doom and gloom.

If they lock down Shanghai that tells you all you need to know.

You ain’t got to run off. I’m just on the opposite side of the spectrum due to 15 years of travel in China. I’ve seen the worse of the worse.

I have my ideas of what’s behind all this but it would really be wild speculation.

Update-we have flights out of Yichang to Yunming tomorrow night at 9pm.. however all the roads are closed. Not sure how we are gonna get there (airport is ab 15mi. away).

Roads and trains are shut down but the airport is still operating... dont ask me why. I've got an idea but I'm gonna keep that to myself.

Not expecting to make that flight tomorrow night but we are giving it the ole college try.

Pneumonia isn't covering it up.

Pneumonia is usually what ultimately kills you. It's the same with SARS and the flu in the US. Common practice.
