I know positive information is frowned upon around here, but global active cases (cases where the patient hasn't died/recovered yet) peaked 10 days ago at 58,747. Despite the new cases outside of China, active cases have fallen to 46,607, a decline of 20% over the last 10 days.

To add to that, there are still less than 5,000 total cases reported outside of China.

Anything's possible. But I have trouble believing that they essentially managed to halt the spread of virus this quickly.

It’s not that unbelievable. Have you read the accounts of how serious the quarantines were? And if what we are hearing is true... that it takes more intense close contact to spread the virus then it’s possible it worked. I just think if there was continued exponential spread in all parts of China we would hear about the chaos. I know the CCP can clamp down on information but this would be too big of a story IMO.

And the degree of slowdown is almost perfectly matched with what you’d expect from the probability curve of showing symptoms later in the incubation period.

How the hell are there only 2 cases in Russia, 3 in India and the Philipines, yet 7 in Iraq and Sweden

In the WHO press conference today they were hinting at cluster transmission. I’m not completely sure I understand that but I think instead of someone spreading the virus widely in open public places it takes more direct contact which leads to spread inside family’s, churches, etc by certain people that may be more prone to spread the disease/shed the virus.

Maybe just blind luck those countries have avoided importing some of those cluster spreaders. I need to read more about it.

They can save money on tests at least.

If one person tests positive, everyone’s extended family who commutes on the same train is also positive.

There is certainly some luck involved, no doubt.

A guy traveled from Italy to the Canary Islands, was infected, infected his wife, and a couple staying at their same hotel was infected. There are 4 cases stemming from one hotel in the Canary Islands and 3 in all of Russia.

That couple also sounds like they swing.

Don't forget that Wuhan had a potluck banquet for 40,000 families 2 days before they locked down the city.

No it doesn't, and overpopulation is a myth. You could fit the entire population on Earth into the state of Texas.
There is no overpopulation.
