I understand why Trump downplayed the situation today. He knows the stock market is getting sodomized. It makes sense to downplay the severity to prevent further incitement of fear and instability in the market. China is doing the same thing right now. They are claiming the virus has leveled out and is under control.

Do not listen to this BS. What Trump said today is a stark contrast of what the CDC said yesterday. Everyone should start preparing. It's about to get much worse. This is going to very similar to a severe flu pandemic. It's not a doomsday virus....but it will kill more people than we see with typical seasonal viruses. A healthy 29 year old doctor died last week. I know some of you think this is over-hyped and that the swine flu was worse....but any virus that kills a young healthy 29 year old man should be extremely alarming.

My girlfriends mom is Korean and she flew from Seoul, South Korea to San Francisco today with a layover in Japan. When she landed in the United States...she did not get screened or anything like that. South Korea has the 2nd most cases in the world at 1595 cases. Apparently, they are only screening people from China. When the United States implemented travel ban and started screening Chinese travelers...there were far fewer cases than what South Korea has now.

I have friends that are state level emergency management officials...and they have told me that the federal government has no plan for this and is not providing the states with any guidelines on how to handle this situation.

It angers me that we do not have a travel ban on South Korea and Italy already.

It’s going to blow up here over the next week or two. South Korea was on top of this and its getting out of control there. 500+ new cases today alone.

quote:

South Korea confirms 171 new cases of coronavirus for a total of 505 in one day, overtaking China as the country with the most number of daily confirmed cases

Why is it that most of the world is taking this seriously and our CDC is sitting on its dick? This is absurd

And half this country is begging for government controlled healthcare.

Really makes you think.

I was a sophomore in college back in 2009 and ended up contracting the Swine Flu. The two worst symptoms I had were the headache and chills. I couldn’t move for days — it was crippling. Only upside was extensions on any projects/exams.

How do you know he was healthy? Do you have his medical records?

Go to you phone contacts, pick 100 peoples names and delete two. Then see if anything happens.

I'm just here to see what the panic level in this thread has reached today.

Some of y'all are giving the Q posters a run for their money.

Well a 23 yr old female on the Iranian national soccer team just died. Probably safe to assume she was in good health and shape if she is able to play soccer at a high level.

What a self righteous statement... crowning yourself lord and savior? Going to lead the people through the impending apocalypse you prayed for?

What was his medical history? What was his family’s medical history? Do you have the autopsy? Do you even have his name?

Why would I come to a sports message board's off topic forum to find out what I should be doing next?

That seems kind of odd.

That’s a weird melt, but expected from you.

He’s the one who came here with the self righteous attitude wanting to show off how not worried he is. I would be willing to bet he doesn’t understand the basic epidemiology of this virus, so his excuse is simply ignorance. Yours on the other hand is denial.

Only a fool would doubt the OT. Go back one page and see where a nurse in California found out about the first case in California from this very thread well before her own hospital alerted her.

How much suspicion is there that China’s Infected numbers aren’t growing as fast because all their hospital beds are full?

Wouldn’t it be crazy if this thing was completely out of control across China, but we’re only aware of what the medical personnel are capable of reporting?

There have been several under 50 doctor deaths reported on in China.

Just because the first to die are going to be elderly or those with preexisting conditions, most assume those are the only people susceptible to the virus. Don't get overconfident because the initial numbers reported for deaths in South Korea or Italy will be elderly. It will be the beginning of April until we know what we really have, and by that time it will be too late to have contained it.

Honkus also came to the OT to get help for his family stuck in China. The OT is pretty powerful as an under the radar form of social media/information when it needs to be.
