And remember, that’s just the family he’s “lost.” So even if it’s massively more deadly than what’s being reported and it’s killing 50% of those infected....that’s 80 family members that would be needed.
I’m struggling to think of a social structure with more than 20 family members total.
Remember, one child system means no brothers, no sisters, no aunts, no nieces and nephews, no uncles, and no potential in-laws with any of those family roles.
ETA: worth meationing that around half of families could get a second child for much of the time period.
Still, unless literally just entire extended family was killed by the virus, then it still couldn’t happen.

In all honesty, I don't mean to be a contrarian. I just don't post in most of the threads where I agree with the majority. I don't see any value in basically saying "+1". I agree with the takes around here far more often than I disagree, but I'm far more likely to post if I disagree.

Seeing translated tweets now from verified accounts that seem to suggest it's martial law in several provinces now?
The tweet translated it as "wartime control." Didn't specifically say Wuhan/Hubei but I'm assuming it's possibly more widespread? I know the army had previously been sent in, but didn't know about them providing supplies to people now.
