Site not updated? If anything the number of ending should have changed as samples came in?

Not not that would boost my earlier suspicion that the main problem globally was a lack of the customized ingredients to do the tests.

It’ll change as the facilities ramp up with what they need.

According to the CDC's website they only update on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

He’s the chairman of the senate armed forces committee. He’s probably way more informed about this than you think.

He's throwing shite at the wall. He just threw out the BSL4 facility being in Wuhan, despite zero links between the facility and the virus.

It's one thing for forum fodder, it's another thing to do it as a senator.

As I said earlier, if he knows something, say it. Don't beat around the bush with a bunch of vague shite just to appease your conspiracy minded base.

So I was debating on posting this but figure I would. There is a Chinese research paper suggesting that this has an R0 of 4.08 and fatality rate of 6.50%. Though this hasn't been peer reviewed yet.

Turning attention to other countries, Japan is probably the best equipped to handle the virus and most transparent.

Interesting paper. They said if the infectious period could be reduced to 2.3 days, the R0 would fall below 1.

My only question is the validity of their reasons to exclude the past month of case data.

The Chinese economy will absolutely tank when/if this thing spreads out across their county.

Elsewhere, Japan announced that they would run anaylses for suspect cases from other countries who do not have the facilities or ability or whatever to do it for themselves.

This hints to me that stories out of Japan have to be read for test results for Suspected cases IN Japan, suspected cases from elsewhere.

I'd also expect some analyses are being done at multiple labs for reproduce-ability.

Case Summary of Seattle 2019 NCoV Patient

quote:

Our case patient initially presented with mild cough and low-grade intermittent fevers, without evidence of pneumonia on chest radiography on day 4 of his illness, before having progression to pneumonia by illness day 9.

quote:

On January 19, 2020, a 35-year-old man presented to an urgent care clinic in Snohomish County, Washington, with a 4-day history of cough and subjective fever. On checking into the clinic, the patient put on a mask in the waiting room. After waiting approximately 20 minutes, he was taken into an examination room and underwent evaluation by a provider. He disclosed that he had returned to Washington State on January 15 after traveling to visit family in Wuhan, China.

quote:

After specimen collection, the patient was discharged to home isolation with active monitoring by the local health department.

quote:

On January 20, 2020, the CDC confirmed that the patient’s nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs tested positive for 2019-nCoV by real-time reverse-transcriptase–polymerase-chain-reaction (rRT-PCR) assay. In coordination with CDC subject-matter experts, state and local health officials, emergency medical services, and hospital leadership and staff, the patient was admitted to an airborne-isolation unit at Providence Regional Medical Center

quote:

On hospital day 6 (illness day 10), a fourth chest radiograph showed basilar streaky opacities in both lungs, a finding consistent with atypical pneumonia

quote:

Given the radiographic findings, the decision to administer oxygen supplementation, the patient’s ongoing fevers, the persistent positive 2019-nCoV RNA at multiple sites, and published reports of the development of severe pneumonia3,4 at a period consistent with the development of radiographic pneumonia in this patient, clinicians pursued compassionate use of an investigational antiviral therapy. Treatment with intravenous remdesivir (a novel nucleotide analogue prodrug in development10,11) was initiated on the evening of day 7

quote:

On hospital day 8 (illness day 12), the patient’s clinical condition improved. Supplemental oxygen was discontinued

quote:

As of January 30, 2020, the patient remains hospitalized. He is afebrile, and all symptoms have resolved with the exception of his cough, which is decreasing in severity.

While focus remains on Wuhan, the number of cases in nearby Huanggang has risen to 1,002 (up by 276 from yesterday). Huanggang announced earlier today that people will be banned from leaving their home, except for 1 person per family to get basic needs every other day
