I don’t know if it’s true or not, but there were reports of unrest directed at the homes of known infected in Wuhan yesterday.

Coronavirus update: - 11,948 confirmed cases worldwide - 17,988 suspected cases - 259 fatalities - 1,795 in serious/critical condition - 260 treated and released - All parts of China reporting cases - 24 countries reporting cases
So 10% of suspected cases are in serious or critical condition?
Yea that’s not your basic flu
Everyone is focused on the death numbers but you don’t have to die for this thing to frick you up bad

Be aware that is NOT a rendering of the virus, but rather of a protein that facilitates cell infection.
A little more info I've read:
-This paper wasn't peer-reviewed
-Apparently these proteins are so small that someone looked (something called BLASTr?) and they are in a lot of things; not just HIV.

Anyone know what % discovery they're at ??
Haven't seen it since it was 5% on the first few days.

This was manufactured. I have no evidence but it’s what I believe. This is some v for vendetta shite

Yes because the Chinese government needs to manufacture a crisis to gain authoritarian powers.

It's difficult to know what's making the cut as suspected. InThailand (IIRC), "suspected" cases were basically pneumonia cases which couldn't be immediately explained. More than half of those tested negative for this virus, however. I can't find the link for the life of me though, rds dc posted it.
ETA - as for the flu, using last year as a reference, 4% of flu like illnesses that sought medical attention ended up being hospitalized.

It’s not a crazy theory. Once word got out about the virus they locked down millions of citizens, they won’t let the US CDC assist, and they built that giant hospital in days.
I’ve decided I hate China. Oppressed citizens, ban whinnie the poo, grill dogs alive and eat them, cheaters in trade tariffs, and they make disgusting diseases.
Can’t we find some other country to make all the dumb shite we buy?

So the suspected cases are over estimated? That would increase the mortality rate and critical condition rate

I have not ruled out a bio weapon on the loose either. That would make the draconian response to this and the lack of information more believable. I hope not but really don’t trust the chicoms

if some of the suspected cases were actually pneumonia (in the absence of corona), then some of the deaths could be as well...

Knew that's what you notice.
The point is we don't know how each country is labeling things, and, more importantly, we don't know how much sampling bias is happening. If you're waiting for people to have pneumonia before you consider it a suspected case, it's pretty normal for a high rate to be serious.

Not true
Posted on 1/31/20 at 7:59 pm to slackster
At this point, wouldn't you expect the testing to be under the same SOPs and monitored by WHO?
Posted on 1/31/20 at 8:00 pm to joshnorris14
all of the deaths have definitively been diagnosed with corona? if so, my mistake...

Tests being used on US patients suspected of carrying the coronavirus ravaging China don't always work, and throw up false results, according to the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Robert Redfield, the CDC's director, pointed out problems with the test at a briefing on the virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, where some 200 people have died from it.
Speaking Friday at the White House, he said: "We've seen people who had a detectable virus, then they didn't have a detectable virus, and then three days later they had a detectable virus.

Things like this and the fact that you can be asymptomatic and can still be contagious points to me that it is possibly man made.
If you want to freak yourself out read up on the what the US did with Bioweapons development during the cold war.
Made viruses that were hard to detect but highly contagious that were made to mutate after a certain time and become much more deadly. After it had spread and was everywhere.
