The biggest problem with this Santa Clara study is they advertised on Facebook, looking for people to take the test. It is therefore naturally going to attract those who thought that they might have gotten COVID-19, but who weren't tested at the time and want to learn if they actually did have it.

When people are self-selecting for a study like this, you're going to get much bigger numbers than in other studies.

The nursing home where I do contract work -- I checked the iso unit this via EMR and we now have 12 positive cases. 12 of 79 residens. Last night I posted that it was 9 - evidently some results were returned/called in during the night shift.

Two are now in the hospital -- one just refuses to keep his oxygen on and as he was a full code, our staff felt better with him being in the hospital. The other was in the hospital (not sure what his circumstances were) after his test but before his results came back.

15% of our residents are positive. A couple I'm thinking from what I can read about their condition won't make it.

The Netherlands did a random blood donor test and found similar results

It goes in line with everyone’s experts as well. Mortality rate between 0.2 and 0.7%

I got tested this week (because of who I need to interact with at work and who they interact with) and got the all clear.

I honestly wish I had it I want that immunity.

So I went back to work and check this out guys. The owner of my company has taken out some kind of government assistance related to covid and his employees have to have a certain amount of hours worked or he doesn't qualify. For the next eight weeks we are being "strongly encouraged " to work twelve hour shifts and work seven days per week. I have been working from midnight until 12pm every day this week and pretty much sleeping as much as I can. That's why I haven't posted much this week. It has been pretty rough for guys that are used to eight hour shifts and off on weekends. I could use an off day for sure but right now guys should just be grateful to have a job to go to. I supervise about 20 guys and most of them are bitching and saying it's unfair. It isn't unfair, it is freaking wonderful and a blessing from the Lord. Sure, it's gonna suck but there are probably thousands or millions of Americans that would swap with us right now.

First a stimulus check from Trump and now more overtime money than I care to work? I got it good guys. Real good.

I get it but damn that's a lot of hours to expect people to work without a day off. Am I understanding you right?

How are you feeling and how's the no smoking??? Hope all is well.

I'd love to see what program this is lol.

Remember when your owner thought you were lying about a condition that hospitalized you for a week?

The more the owner of a business pays his employees for a certain period of time, the more they can request from the federal government.

I'm thinking that is what he's talking about.

So assuming it's a cares act loan, he applied for way more than he needed for normal operations, and is now forcing his workforce to make up for it so he can catch a windfall? Nice.

This is the Payment Protection Program. It's technically an SBA loan, but yes, the government will eliminate the debt if the money gets spent on payroll (only 25% of the money can be spent on rent and utilities, and the rest has to be payroll).

I'm now waiting on my application to be approved and for Congress to put more money in the program. Regions Bank stalled me out and never finished reviewing my application.

The amount that you get is based on your staffing from 2019. So, lots of businesses are getting more than they really need for staffing right now, since business is down. People like me are looking at a similar situation, which is why I think it may not be such a bad thing that my application got delayed through this process, because I'll actually need a lot more employee hours once we reopen.

I'm also thinking about what work that people can do that they haven't done in the past. And my 18-year-old daughter, who normally works for free, is going to get put on the payroll.

That is a lot of hours and for the record, nobody is gonna be shamed for taking a day off. Certainly nobody will be fired. We realize that the big boss probably filed for assistance he probably just didn't quite qualify for but he signs our checks and he has been good to us so we need to help him. I see it as a massive pay raise for the next eight weeks. That's a lot hours to be paid for even if you cave and take off on a Sunday or even if you take both off days. I personally am a workaholic. Can't help it so when they told me unlimited overtime I was like ok, you don't have to twist my arm. More hours equals more pay so I plan to work every weekend too while it is offered. We can work more than 12 hours at a time too if we want to.

I just think that there is a lot of guys and gals in our country right now that would swap their situation with me in a heartbeat.

I haven't caved on the smoking. I can hardly stand to kiss my wife after she smokes.

Proud of you and hope she realizes that she's hurting not only her but you all as well.

Glad you're back at work -- rest when you can.

Sure, but do you think you'll need every current employee to work over 2x their normal hours to meet the requirement?

Normal full time work for 8 weeks is 320 hours. CD's employer is asking everyone to work 672 in that time span.

NGL CD's boss has sounded like a grade-a shitbag throughout this whole ordeal.

I took it as he hasn't applied for it yet because he has enough cash on hand/revenue to float payroll for a couple months.

And during those months he's getting his guys to work crazy hours so when he does apply, he can apply for a lot more.

My wife's boss is doing something similar. She's giving raises to her 2 employees before applying.

Sure that's possible, but goddamn that's a dangerous game to play if you haven't yet applied (Thus missing out on the first go round) and there's not guarantee you'll get it on the second go round either.

For sure.

My wife's boss got the first round and is going back to the coffers for round somehow.

She's personally loaded though from a trust fund (this business is her pet project) so I'm not worried about her making payroll.

You're a great man and I admire your great attitude about all of this. I can say for a fact i know I wouldn't cut it at your job lol. I value my work-life balance too much. I don't value money enough to work extra long hours. Hell, my wife and I made a pact that no matter what, we will never work more than 56 hours in any given week.
