I suspect just like mortality rate goes up with increasing age, I believe asymptomatic rate will go up with decreasing age.
I.e. if you have 100 twenty year olds, maybe 80% are asymptomatic. If you have 100 seventy year olds maybe 20% are asymptomatic.
This would explain the difference in the two studies and it makes sense.

Really big news in the LDH report today. I think that a lot of the numbers are big because some hospitals were just catching up on stuff that didn't get reported over the holiday weekend.
* Only 502 new cases out of 10,331 test results. That's incredibly good news -- only 5% positive.
* 129 deaths -- Louisiana's deadliest day by far.
* -137 hospitalized. This is fantastic. This is our first-ever decline, but its a huge decline.
* -25 on ventilators.

Do we know if there is immunity once you are recovered? The WHO (I know they've been pretty poor in their responses so far) said recently they can't confirm immunity yet.

It would be extremely unusual for the overwhelming majority of patients to not be immune after infection. There is immunity with other corona viruses that cause the common cold, as well as SARS.
The question is how long does immunity last?
All immunity wanes over time. But most knowledgeable people expect it to be at least a year.

It would seem that we would have many reports of re infection at this time. All we've heard were some sketchy reports from China.

The problem is that those reports aren't necessarily reliable. Some of these tests can have false positives, so it could be that some of those people had the flu, were tested for COVID-19 and got a false positive result, and then later actually got COVID-19.
In some of the South Korean cases, there's suspicion that some of those were cases where doctors thought that the patients had recovered and sent them home, only for the virus to flare up again -- which isn't reinfection.
So, it's still doubtful that very many (if any) people can be reinfected with the virus.

France, Spain, and Germany are about to re-open their economies and will return to school on May 11. Meanwhile, the Raleigh, North Carolina police department are arresting peaceably assembled protestors who want the state to re-open - a clear violation of the 1st Amendment. Raleigh PD just tweeted out that protesting is regarded as a non-essential activity. The state itself only has 400 coronavirus hospitalizations out of a population of 10 million people.

I live in hotspot Albany, GA. Our regional hospital, Phoebe Putney Memorial, takes covid-19 patients from surrounding counties when able. Phoebe Putney also sends covid-19 patients to Atlanta when we don't have enough ICU beds.

Glad to see Fauci stand aligned with Trump yesterday... I take back what I said about him in that regard.

May the 4th is the first Monday in May so that's only one more week. I think that as hard as Louisiana has been hit as early on in this thing as we were that if we continue to see a reduction in the numbers of daily infected, hospitalized, % of those tested as positive, and the FedGov directs the antibody testing in plentiful quantities here, we could open up on the 4th if not definitely by the 11th.
Which isn't really bad at all.

I think leaders should be smart and even if they can legally do it, they shouldn’t.
If you’re going to allow any gatherings, it should be all. Churches shouldn’t be Legally allowed to even a sports event can’t.

The first few steps of Europe reopening the economy is just returning to where we're currently at in the US.
Spain is starting first with construction and manufacturing, which was never shut down in the US. I talked with one of my Belgian coworkers this morning, the hardware stores are closed in Belgium so he can't get anything done in his house on lockdown, he would prefer the US lockdowns to their European versions.

No matter where European countries or any other country is in the process, the US needs to jump start this economy ASAP. At this point we need to proceed under the assumption that we'll have difficulty importing an adequate supply of essential goods and materials for a long time, whether it's from Europe, Asia, or wherever. That means we need to start ASAP building/adding capacity for every critical part of our food, energy, medication, communication, transportation, etc., production and distribution chains.
If we don't do those things, we'll be accepting on faith that the rest of the world is willing and able to help cover our critical needs even in the face of a 2nd or 3rd wave of virus cases. Events so far raise doubts that other countries will be either willing or able to do so.

Trump just said he will ask states to present reopening plans to his office ASAP. Said 20 are in very good shape and expects some to open prior to May 1.
