-we won’t be close to being overrun

My guy spoke too
Pretty surreal. I’m in his office and conf room all the time bringing him stuff.
But he was very benign and just gave a canned PC speech.

Texas will be done by city I think. Houston is still at an inflection point that could go way up if they’re not careful.
Other cities are more in control than others.

And that’s the way it should be. There is no one size fits all. Not by state, not by city.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority open things back up by beginning/mid may.

The big fear is we will immediately have to go back on lockdown if a second wave hits. Which would completely kill morale more than just staying on lockdown.

That's a risk. I'm assuming states and cities will enact strict occupancy limits for public gathering areas like bars and restaurants for a decent bit. Doesn't make a ton of sense to reopen schools with only a couple weeks left in the year.

Like I’ve said previously... Retail has to observe the marking on the ground for checkout, retailers regularly cleaning carts/touch pads, restaurants lessen capacity and space tables out further, recommendation that everyone in public wear masks, tell people they are their own responsibility and if you have pre existing condition or elderly to stay home, no theaters or sporting events yet.

The problem with this would be that restaurants opening would be that they would be getting ~50 percent of revenue.
Their cost for food, booze, etc. would have to offset for their loss in revenue for the reduction in customers.
What would be the point of a smaller restaurant opening if they could not make their margins?

Funny random thought I had earlier- they allow sports to come back but require skipping rows and 3 seats in between each attendee. So you have LSU football with 12500 people in the stands. Imagine what those tickets are selling for.

I’ll admit that I have no idea about operating costs vs revenue for a restaurant.
It is the small local restaurants that will suffer the most from this. They might as well furlough their employees rather than risk such a tight margin.
Here is a link from one of the oldest restaurants in Denver closing it’s doors permanently due to this.
