Many of those are not closed. I guess if you own a dress store? Or a Planet Fitness? But there are so many “essential business” exceptions, it’s almost ridiculous. Some that are closed should be receiving some sort of federal aid, yes? I don’t really know.
You do realize that even though they may not be closed they aren’t experiencing anywhere near normal revenues which not only hurts their business but also causes lay offs, furloughs, etc which then all trickle down
Same for restaurants that are “open” doing takeout only

Of course. But I have still seen many with signs out front saying they are hiring right now. So not sure what’s going on. And again, they’re not without help. That’s what this federal aid package was for.

- New York City officials have hired contract laborers to bury the dead in its potter’s field on Hart Island as the city’s daily death rate
Read the article. They normally bury 25 people a week there. I don't see much more. This is a scare tactic. Hundreds of people normally die in NYC every day.

Fear mongering...
Want to know why?
Same place in 2017....

I actually did read the article, NYC have been using that plot for over 100 years to bury people. With 700+ people a day dying of COVID19 in NYC, there are more than 25 a week are ending up there. It's not a scare tactic, it's an article that is reporting on something that is actually happening. If that scares you, then I'm sorry you are so easily scared.

And that happens year after year for a hundred years.... Yet convenient to call it out right now to stoke fear and emotion.

Who said they were scared... It’s to play tot he lowest common denominator, same shite that the media has been doing for the past two months.

Not everything in the media is a conspiracy or an attempt to "scare" people. I thought the article was an interesting, all be it morbid, piece of NYC history. I had new clue about that site. The article also clearly states that they are using it much more than normal. This may be the only acknowledgement that many of those buried there ever get and that is actually really sad.

Typically, some 25 bodies are interred each week by low-paid jail inmates working on the island, which sits off the east shore of the city’s Bronx borough and is accessible only by boat. That number began increasing in March as the new coronavirus spread rapidly, making New York the epicenter of the global pandemic.
There are about two dozen bodies a day, five days a week buried on the island, said Jason Kersten, a spokesman for the Department of Correction, which oversees the burials.

Friend of ours is getting over this. Went to a drive thru testing site and was positive. Got pretty bad but his doc didn’t/wouldn’t see him. His fingers got bluish (!) and he never went to hospital or got the meds. Didn’t have a pulse oximeter at home.
Wife gave over th encounter Delsym and some other things and he’s on the tail end of it.
Said he wouldn’t wish it on anyone and in hindsight, yeah he probably should have gone to the hospital. 50 yo. Unsure if any underlying conditions. Maybe a tad overweight but not close to obese.

It is interesting, but the only reason it is out there and being blasted on places like Drudge is to stoke fear and that this situation is soooo terrible.
I actually got the article earlier this morning after a friend in China said that the US was doing mass burial sites because our deaths were so outrageous and it was so bad here. That is was foreign media, especially China is saying.

The case I mentioned earlier in the thread turned out to be negative for covid. We were originally told he had it but that was his wife being a little over anxious. He had early onset Parkinson’s. But that turned out to be a non-factor. He still has some kind of viral myocarditis but is on the mend. Surgery coming soon once he’s stable enough to address the heart issues they found.

Thanks for sharing, had no idea that existed. Very interesting.
Also sadly not surprised to see this met with skepticism and cries of media fear mongering

Hi folks. Just checking in on this thread for the first time in a month and a half.
Crazy how far we've come from Honkus being stuck in Wuhan.

This is up there with media making a huge deal out of refrigeration trucks being brought to the hospitals. It doesn’t take many bodies to overwhelm a hospital morgue.

You bring a ton of good information to this thread and it's appreciated. But, IMO based on long observation, the vast majority of what we call "news" is actually carefully tailored propaganda or sensationalism. This isn't a recent phenomenon. The term "yellow journalism" was used for it in the late 1800's, but I'm sure it predated that by about as long as the written and even spoken word have existed. People communicate information with a bias and an intent to sell their point of view. What we call "news" is particularly riddled with that bias.

Do that many people really notnhave family? Not sure why I’m surprised but I am. That’s so sad.
