Over 70% of deaths are African American in Louisiana

African Americans makeup 32% of Louisiana’s population

Noteworthy

Less noteworthy when you realize the racial makeup of New Orleans and that most of our state's cases are there.

And even less so when you realize that obesity is a huge issue with COVID19 and non-hispanic blacks have the largest obesity rates in the United States (~50%).

Not really.

Our system serves the metro area which is around 35% African American

Our deaths are actually over 80% black

And no, I don’t think it’s genetic. I think it just highlights even more how poor health and environmental living play a part in this virus

There was an issue of adding it as a positive to the parish where it was tested rather than the home parish of the patient. "Supposedly" these have been corrected.

Good to see that the chicom propaganda team is still working hard to let the world know how great they are.

Yeah, but Orleans Parish is 59% African-American, and that's where the big breakout in the state occurred, because of Mardi Gras.

Less than 1% of people myself included understand any of the text whatsoever except free shipping. I bought it though when I saw those angry little viruses. J/k didn't buy.

ETA after rereading it does not appear that shipping. Just no extra cost for dry ice. ??

And deaths in our system in orleans is over 80% AA deaths, so once again disproportionate

I keep seeing hypertension mentioned as a underlying cause. Is that untreated hypertension? I have very mild hypertension and take a low dose of medication for so it kinda has me a little worried. Not over weight just have crappy genetics when it comes to BP

For our system, yes

Cant speak for others

We are unfortunately seeing alot of cases of pretty much untreated diabetes and hypertension

Ours too, which is very national. However, if you look at the patients admitted with COVID that are under the age of 50 and have hypertension, a vast majority have other issues, usually obesity, which likely caused the hypertension.

So I can't give a correlation/causation there.

We aren't seeing a ton of admitted patients at a healthy weight, under the age of 50, that just have hypertension.

I am no doctor though, just a data/strategy guy.

That’s good... I’m 39 and only about 180lbs so I think I’m generally a healthy weight
