What is “Big Ag” and where is their farm? I fear you have been misinformed.

Nutritional Value of Corn

Corn served on its own has several health benefits, and, likewise, corn-based foods can be part of a nutritious diet.

For instance, Wicker Velez says, “Corn tortillas are a staple of Mexican food, and when combined with vegetables and protein, they can create a balanced meal. Kids love corn-based cereals, and the kinds with less added sugar can provide an easy-to-prepare breakfast or snack with the addition of milk, yogurt or fruit.”

For processed foods made with corn, it makes sense to check labels, since added ingredients will affect the nutrition profile. “Be aware of foods with too much added sugar, sodium or saturated or trans fats,” she advises.
Low Calorie, Low Fat

A medium ear of sweet corn or a half cup of fresh, frozen or canned kernels (without added sugar or salt):

Has about 77 to 100 calories
Is naturally gluten-free and low in fat, with only about one gram of fat per ear (not including butter and other oily add-ons). The majority of that gram of fat is polyunsaturated, the kind of fat that can help reduce cholesterol and inflammation

Macronutrients, Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidants

That same medium ear of sweet corn or a half cup of fresh, frozen or canned kernels (without added sugar or salt) has:

About 3 grams of protein
5 milligrams of sodium
244 international units of vitamin A
About 15 grams of carbohydrates, including about 5 grams of sugar
Small amounts of B vitamins, magnesium and potassium
Antioxidants that ease wear and tear on the body’s cells, including:
Vitamin C
Lutein and zeaxanthin, which support vision and eye health

Farm sugar cane or sugar beets you idiots. Adapt to changing markets like real businesses do or die.

This is about companies like Cargil and ADM with HFCS plants. These plants are bigger and more involved than dry milling ethanol plants. Farmers plant what sells for a profit. Lots of sugar beet plants have been demolished in the last decade or so due lack of demand.

Oh no!!! Well maybe we should continue to make our kids more unhealthy so these farmers can continue to get the newest badass $650,000 John Deere tractor that's building plants in Mexico while we subsidize them?

Yeah corn is so awesome that it’s why so many Central American kids are born with cleft palate.

If you drink 100 calories of Coke made with real sugar, you could do lawn work for a few hours and burn it all off.

If it's made from HFCS, nothing short of an ultramarathon will burn it off. HFCS goes straight to your liver and body fat, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Today I learned that corn subverts the laws of thermodynamics.

Also if it takes you a few hours to burn 100 calories, work harder.

They say many of the world's people are starving. Sell the corn to them. Paid in advance, of course.

frick’em. They are one of the major reasons we are still dealing with the ethanol hoax screwing up engines. Pure petroleum beats the sheet out of corn squeezings going into our fuel tanks.

What’s true?
Let me break this down to you so even a small school child can understand

I borrow money from a bank
The bank charges me interest. I plant a crop and put all the other inputs involved on to it.
I buy crop insurance

I harvest a crop and hope that the fruits of my labor exceed what I borrowed

It’s a 7 digit number you fricking idiot and there’s no govt bailout.

Try Knowing wtf you’re talking about next time before your open your pie hole

And furthermore you people on here hating on farmers are some jealous weird mother frickers

Like of all the people to hate on… a farmer? Seriously ?
