So who is behind pushing Piaza to run?

Why did Jordan get all mad about Sclafani? Did it cut his pay?
Their Mom was at our house several months ago and she mentioned things were a bit stressed (family wise - maybe just between the brothers) over Peter coming into the business. Didn't ask for details.

Some people don’t like it when someone better comes in and starts making sense, making you look bad.

This tells me they are concerned he can beat the current stooge. Makes me support him even more. Wish Steve Carter has stayed out, he might be the best of the bunch but not sure he will take off the gloves in a runoff like Matt will if he needs to

Engquist, Riley, Saurage, Lipsey, Usher, Bernhard and Wampold?
They were all vocal against St. George and all have money. Just a guess but the dots would seem to be connecting if the original assertion is true.

Ugh watch the YouTube interview. Jordan didn’t even want to run but no one else would so he stepped up and is selflessly running for the good of our city!

Marcelle will likely not go after Broome too hard, though, and instead focus her efforts on tanking Wicker. Wicker has bucked the black democrats on the counsel on several issues, and Marcelle will likely try to paint her as an uncle tom. Marcelle is likely in the race to run the dirty attacks on Wicker to weaken her while Broome keeps her hands clean and continues to look like the adult in the room. Funding a clown like Piazza to do the same to Watson and weaken her most likely runoff opposition just seems to make far too much sense.
I see it completely different.
Marcelle needs large amounts of black vote. SWB is the only place to peel them from. Tara's black supporters are NOT going to vote for Marcelle unless its the runoff against a hard R republican, which to be honest none of them are, but may end up being portrayed as such by the media and the Democrat machine.
Marcelle hates being a legislator, would prefer to be back in local govt, and is in the race to destroy SWB. She hates her. If Tara made the runoff against SWB, you can bet your arse Marcelle will be with Tara. Denise and Tara aren't particularly close, but there's a level of respect there from their time together on the Metro Council.
Piazza is about to go nuclear against Watson. He has to. Can't move up to 1st in the Republican category without going thru #2 (Watson). Now, Piazza has pretty much a zero % chance of making the runoff, but he's being influenced by many to destroy Watson, which is to the benefit of SWB, Carter, and Wicker. There's no black hand or nefarious backroom figure running Jordan. He's just easily influenced and each camp is taking advantage of that to encourage him to attack Watson, and that's what you are going to see over the next several weeks.
Wait till the next shoe drops against Watson. It's going to get personal, and it's going to get ugly.
Watson is in a big bind. He's got some votes. He definitely has some votes. His problem is he is not going to be able to raise enough $$$ to get on TV in a substantial way. Due to Covid, he's not going to be able to do what he does best, ie meet people and shake hands and talk a big game. He shines in that environment. This environment doesn't exist right now.
This is a TV race, and 3 people have TV money. SWB, Carter, and Tara to some extent (if the $ promised to her appears). Watson is toast. Well done toast. His best bet is to drop out and endorse Carter or Wicker, and hope for a job in their administration, because he's a full time councilman that cant run again for council. I don't think he even has a real job in the real world. Carter just sucked up all of Watson's potential big donors. They live in the same donor pond. Every big $ guy I know is now placing $ on SWB, Carter and Wicker, and many of them are supporting all 3.
This isn't a police jury race in New Roads. This is BR Mayor President and the engineers, contractors, consultants, city vendors and old money folks aren't giving Watson shite. I don't care how many HOA presidents and neighborhood do-gooders wanna vote for Watson, he's simply not going to have the $ to make the runoff.
I've seen some pro-STG people on this board saying Watson is their guy. That's hard to imagine. Watson is NOT pro-STG.

He wasn't pro-STG, but it doesn't matter now. He's said the vote has happened and the people have decided and he's not going to stand in the way of what they voted on. Which is the only correct position. Wicker seems to be in that camp too. SWB, Marcelle, and apparently Piazza will fight it.
I agree though about money being an issue for Watson. Hopefully he can get the backing he needs because SWB and Marcelle have war chest. He also doesn't appear to have the biggest personality.

I would be very curious to talk about that over a beer, because this is very much not my experience with the three of them, but I’m sure as shite not discussing that in any measure of detail on here

It absolutely matters. The next Mayor President will have 2 major tasks as it relates to STG.
1, to drop or continue the lawsuit against STG. What is his position on the lawsuit. It matters. What is his position? Understandably, he's not a party in the lawsuit specifically, but the Mayor Presidents tone and language on this will absolutely be relevant to the courts.
2, how would he conduct himself in negotiations with STG on the myriad of issues that need to be hammered out? His loyalty is to the City of Baton Rouge, NOT the City of STG, and you are naive if you think he will negotiate in good faith for the benefit of STG.

I would have thought SWB and Marcelle are generally on the same team and are going to do whatever it takes to make sure either one wins the race. The other will have a spot in the administration.
I don't see them liking Wicker. I'd assume they hate her guts for doing the right thing with the Amoroso deal.
BUT, I've only had one very brief cold convo with SWB and never met the other two and have zero "inside" info on their alliances or rivalries.

I could be wrong, but when I handed C Denise Marcelle a check 2 weeks ago.... well, the rest of that story would have to come at a chat with that beer you mentioned.
I really think Marcelle could surprise some people and sneak into the runoff. She's enormously popular with a huge portion of the population in Baton Rouge.

This isn’t the presidency, it’s for the mayor of Baton Rouge. Taking some shite admin job isn’t a way to vault yourself into a higher office or position. SWB is standing in the way of where Marcelle wants to be. She’ll cut her throat if she must.

The large shoe of a clerical error speedy.
I’ve heard rumors of some unpaid parking tickets that will come to light next.

She is popular in her district. Not outside of it. She got 13% of the vote the last time she ran for mayor.

No but it’s not really hard to figure her out
I’d probably vote for the illiterate chauna banks over Denise or broome. At least it would be entertaining.

Something was unpaid, but to the best of my knowledge, it wasn't parking tickets. Or ethics fines. It's supposedly personal in nature. We'll see, or we won't. Politics is a nasty game!
