I hit what I aim at. 357 is a good round but I've seen 38s careen off car windshields. No good in a city like this.

I see your Dirty Harry and raise you Bullet Tooth Tony!

So, you are obviously the big di*k. The men on the side of ya are your balls. There are two types of balls.
There are big brave balls, and there are little mincey f*ggot balls. Now, di*ks have drive and clarity of vision, but they are not clever. They smell pussy and they want a piece of the action.
And you thought you smelled some good old pussy and have brought your two small mincey
f*ggot balls along for a good old time. But you've got your parties mangled up. There's no pussy here, just a dose that'll make you wish you were born a woman.
Like a prick, you are having second thoughts.
You are shrinking, and your two little balls are shrinking with ya.
The fact that you've got "Replica" written down the side of your gun. And the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle .5O" written on the side of mine, should precipitate your balls into shrinking along with your presence.
Now... f**k off.

Bear spray has a better chance of saving your life if a grizzly decides to eat you

Terrible odds of upholstering, aiming and hitting something that will stop a charging grizzly

I'm terrible with a handgun. Probably because I learned to shoot with a 44 mag with a 12" barrel and probably have a permanent flinch.

Carrying a handgun in grizzly country only gives you the confidence to get out and enjoy the woods.

True story: My mother's ex husband was part of the reason guns started disappearing from casino security in Vegas. Apparently him getting into shootouts in downtown with his .357 was problematic. I knew of at least 7 times he was involved in an exchange of fire downtown

Recoil, time back on target

I know a lot of men that can handle a 44's recoil better than these female cops can a 9mm. That's why cops use 9mm and nothing more powerful.

capacity

Most shootings are settled in 5 or less rounds. If something major happens they have rifles and shotguns in their vehicles.

overpenetration

It's all in the bullet design. A 9mm can penetrate more than a 44 magnum if designed to and vice versa.

Never mind the real possibility of serious hearing damage if either are fired indoors

A 44 magnum is only about 5 decibels higher than a 9mm. You know what is a lot louder? The short barrel ARs they carry.

I think cops should be allowed to carry what they feel comfortable with, so long as the gun can meet certain factors and the cop can qualify with it. The real reason they don't do this anymore is fear of lawsuits, so they have to pick 1 gun for everyone, which usually means it's the gun that the weakest and worst shooters can qualify with.

Light recoil is a tactical feature.

He certainly was. He knocked up my mother in Slidell and their respective families were embarrassed. His dad was an accountant for Howard Hughs so they were essentially sent to Vegas to avoid embarrassing the families. He was Uncle Roger to me as my dad and him were friends and maintained the relationship with me and my siblings. If it was pay day and I was by their house he would take me to the Old Man from Pawn Stars' original shop and buy coin proofs.

I’m not against carrying a handgun at all

But the bear spray is the absolute best thing to have on you in case of a charging grizzly, much greater odds of survival. Hunters that are killed by grizzlies always have handguns and high powered rifles on them too

Those guns are pretty impractical in real life scenarios. Hard to control and forget rapid fire. Not to mention, if you miss with a gun like that, how far can it travel before it stops? Increased your chances of unintended casualties. If cops want to carry bigger than 9mm, fine, but a hand cannon probably isn’t ideal.

I know quite a few guides who started carrying 10mm semi autos as backup.

Nah, they're antiquated relics and are just objectively worse in the field than any 1911 style pistol.

Too heavy and too expensive. I like my .50 DE, reload for it, and it's still $10/mag. If you are buying commercial ammo it's almost $2/rd. The recoil isn't bad, certainly manageable for most people. The muzzle blast is pretty significant though, it's burning a lot of powder at the muzzle.

44 magnum = semi auto is not bad.

Revolver lacks capacity.

50 Desert Eagle is a terrible carry weapon. Too bulky to be terribly effective in a gunfight. Too heavy to be mobile, and it has to be to accommodate for the kick.

Fun to play with, though.
