Cop did an excellent job handling this IMO

I'm all for open carry and exercising my rights, but the guy in the Kilt needs his arse beat. By constitutionalist. fricking idiot is doing more harm than good for the cause and making firearms enthusiasts look bad.

Where I had the problem was where the guy wouldn't even give his name. Thought he was being so smart.

This is what is wrong with America. It is perfectly legal to open carry in Texas. Just carrying the rifle is not probable cause, that has been decided by the Supreme Court. You are one of the ones that are willing to give up liberty for safety, and you deserve neither. I bet you believe cops get killed every single day in this country by some gun toting redneck maniac. It just doesn't happen that way. You very rarely hear about a cop being gun down during duty, and when it does happen there is a three day memorial and a huge parade. When cops kill some unarmed suspect nobody gives a shite. Welcome to the police state.

What frickimg rock have you been under? Not a single day goes by that there isn't a story here or on the web about police abusing someone/something. I'm as disturbed by it as anyone, but to say no one gives a shite is ridiculously stupid on your part. I guess you missed the two NYPD officers murdered a few months ago while working a detail. And apparently you missed that little known, barely mentioned, event up in Ferguson, MO.
Yep no one gives a shite

Yup. I'm anti gun. That's why I have an enhanced CC permit. fricking idiot.

Btw, if that punk pulled that crap in jackson, he would get robbed. All that does is advertise to the hoods that he has a nice weapon for them to steal, which they will at gunpoint. Shooting him will be optional.

So, they give enhanced CC permits to self-admitted fricking idiots? Congratulations. Glad you qualified on both counts.

What the man with the rifle was doing was perfectly legal.

You're the type that locks your door at night and plays cop in front of the mirror.

I love the OT...cops giving inspection sticker tickets are told to fight real crime...cop stops a man walking down a busy street with an AR-15 is told to fight real crime

So in other words people want cops to be proactive...but they really don't.

Is it not a requirement to carry ID if you're carrying a gun? It should be.

It's also perfectly legal for me to fish but I still get checked by the game warden.

He didn't confiscate the weapon, he didn't arrest the guy, he just stopped him to ask for his I.D. Big fricking deal.

I guess that would depend on how many dumbasses dressed like dumbasses are walking around with rifles hanging on them. You would not being saying the same thing if they would have stopped a group of young african americans walking through the hood with pants hanging off their asses.

quote:

Kind of with the cop on this one.

quote:

I definitely think carrying a weapon down a public street creates reasonable suspicion and hope every cop would stop every citizen and check them out. If everything checks out, they should sent on about their way

quote:

He has to ID someone open carrying a gun, cause felons can't do that.

quote:

Yes. If you're legally doing it you have nothing to worry about. Show your ID and go on your way.

quote:

The guy is walking down the street with a rifle. While it may be legal, its not exactly the same as walking down the street with a lollipop. Im not sure why people cant see the difference here.

quote:

That cop is on a very shortlist of cops I'd have a beer with.

quote:

I'm all about some 2nd amendment but a guy walking down the street with a rifle strapped to his back and wearing a kilt is going to raise a question or two. I'm about 5 minutes in and the cop seems to be handling it well.

quote:

I get the constitutional deal BUT come the hell on. LEOs have to respond to shite like this because if they DON'T and someone shoots a place up then the department gets fricked

quote:

I'm pretty much every liberals nutjob uncle on the question of the second amendment. But these people walking around with nothing other on their mind than making people shite bricks are definitely not helping the cause.

Cops are dicks, but unfortunately, that's the dick thats going to have to deal with you if you're "That guy" so don't cry about it. And don't expect us to see your YouTube video and come to your aid when you basically provoked it all without cause. I get the reasoning. And technically, yeah, but stop it so we don't all look like what these idiots want to believe we are please.

quote:

Agreed. In this situation cops 100% need to stop the person. It's common sense and anyone that doesn't agree is part of the problem and needs to get off of YouTube.

Wow.

If I looked out the window of my house right now and saw a guy walking down my street with an assault rifle, I would call the police. And I would expect them to show up and at least talk to the guy like this cop did. I wouldn't want the dispatcher to just tell me 2nd amendment so suck it we aint coming.

not denying that. Nor am I defending the cops or their faults. But dismissing the risks they face and saying no one gives a shite about civilian deaths (at the hands of police) is just flat wrong and destroys any credibility you hope to have. Like this guy carrying his rifle down the street, you do more harm than good for the cause.
