It went from this:
the cop is under no threat
To the cop getting to a better position:
again the cop is under no threat from the guy and has everything under full control all he needs to do is get control of his wrist
To then a couple seconds later(as can be seen in the picture) brutally kneeing the guy in the head:
which then leads to the guy getting angry and proceeding to beat the shite out of the cop.

You can't analyze every single thing the cop does in that moment. Bottom line is that the guy was beating the shite out of the cop and the cop had every reason to fire.

frick the dead guy, it was his fault. Obey the cop at that point, THAT'S the law regardless of how many tmz wanna be's are out there!
There should not have been a death, but it was NOT the cops fault this time. I'm sure the drunk fireman thought he was above being arrested

Seems like if he wouldn't have tried to knee the guy he was trying to arrest in the head - while the guy was facing away - he wouldn't have been put in the position to get his arse handed to him in the fight.
