Unless he suspects her of a crime, he can ask, but not demand, to see her ID. Those 2 baws were going to get her home and it was almost over. then that one cop had to escalate it. Maybe this video being out there will get him a refresher course in de-escalation techniques.
She was not his prisoner and under no suspicion of commiting a crime. Why was she not allowed to close her door? She is under no obligation to speak to him at all. Officer Escalation was not having it though.

It kind of angers me that there were so many alternative endings that don't involve her in cuffs, with a fat black mark on her record. She was an a-hole, and a drunk 18 year old girl. he did not have to whack the hive until she broke.

ETA: I was for the five cops that saw there was no danger and stood down, but thought the one that escalated it was a dickhead, so you deem me anti cop, then say I am the ignorant one?

So they leave her as is & she ends up getting killed or raped. Guess who gets sued. Pretty sure public intoxication is a crime & she obviously failed a "breath test". He has reasonable reason to fear she may hurt herself if the door is closed. With that video, no judge or jury finds the cops escalated anything. They went above & beyond in trying to get her to calm down & provide her ID.

I hear you loud and clear, but in most states, you can get a DWI if you are in the car with the keys even if the car isn't on, so there is the suspicion of that crime

I would have ran the plate, got her parents to come get her. And i have been there and done that. I did 10-15 my w.f.though. very intoxicated, and older, and was in motion operating vehicle.
