Let me piggy back off your Adams pic. This is his (John Quincy Adams) death photo in 1848:

What I find interesting is the B25 bomber. And yet somehow 9/11 brought down 5 buildings. Hmmm... I'm not not claiming (((they))) did it, but we certainly never heard anything close to the truth. There is still that section missing from the report.

B25 bomber used avgas. Avgas vs. jet fuel would be a factor as well.

I wonder if those kids were waiting on the candy drop?
quote:

During the 15-month airlift (Operation Vittles), American and British pilots delivered more than 2 million tons of supplies to the city. But it was Halvorsen's decision to airdrop candy to children (Operation Little Vittles) that clinched an ideological battle and earned him the lasting affection of a free West Berlin. Today, Halvorsen is affectionately known by Berliners and many around the world as as the Candy bomber ("Rosinenbomber"), Uncle Wiggly Wings ("Onkel Wackelflugel") and the Chocolate Pilot.

Pilots would parachute small bundles of candy to children in the city on their landing approaches.

Some of them lived the whole way down. Look it up. NASA didn’t want to talk about it.

They were apparently trying to "fly" and go through emergency procedures all the way down. I guess there was no audio? If there was, its been destroyed or would have leaked by now.

The oldest person ever whose age has been verified is Jeanne Calment (1875–1997) of France, who died at the age of 122 years, 164 days.

Telemetry, yes. But voice recorders I assume were destroyed in the explosion or the tapes were destroyed afterward. Somebody would have leaked it in 30+ years?

Thats a long drop to the ocean. That would be a horrific recording. One non military non pilot onboard? And trained or not you never know how you will react falling to your death, especially after being on top of the world through launch. I assume if I am in that capsule you are gonna hear me scream until impact or my vocal cords explode.

The astronauts may not have not known, but NASA had been warned launching in cold weather was dangerous.

I used to teach a Business Intelligence class and used the Challenger explosion as an example of not ignoring what the data is telling you.

There was historical strong evidence of O ring failure at cold temps. Politics/emotion took over on that launch and people died.

Considered by many to be one of the smartest men to ever be president. He was literally at his father's coattails for many of the pinnacle founding events of this nation.

In other words, I would kill to have a beer with John Quincy.

I’d be fricking shocked if they did. Columbia burned on re-entry like a meteor. I don’t remember hearing about anything larger than some metal fragments recovered across a 3 or 4 state area.

Funny story about that:
The news had been reporting for a few days that Columbia would be visible in Louisiana when returning. I was living in Slidell and got up that morning to go to the Shoney’s breakfast bar, without turning on the TV or reading any news. I heard some people in the Shoney’s talking about the shuttle and turned to them with a big smile and asked “Did you get to see it?”
I didn’t understand their reaction until I got home.
