I don't think so. The last thing they heard was throttle up, then boom.
The astronauts may not have not known, but NASA had been warned launching in cold weather was dangerous.

That was a known fact because of the O rings on the solid rocket boosters... and that's exactly what came of it during the investigation...

But you go ahead believing there was a US Government conspiracy.
Many government conspiracies have been shown to be true in hindsight.
I'm not claiming there was a huge plot. I don't know. I am confident we don't know anything close to the truth. I mean, if you don't believe the government is involved in conspiracies, you've got your head stuck in the sand. It's open knowledge. There are wikipedia articles for Christ's sake.

You do realize wikipedia articles are sourced from other actual articles right? Or would that challenge your beliefs too much?

What I find interesting is the B25 bomber. And yet somehow 9/11 brought down 5 buildings.
The B-25 had nowhere near the velocity and mass of the planes hitting the WTC. The Empire State Building was better engineered than the buildings that fell on 9/11.

MYTH 2: CHALLENGER CREW DIED INSTANTLY The seven-astronaut crew for the space shuttle Challenger's fatal mission smile for the cameras as they leave for the launch pad 25 years ago, on January 27, 1986. Another myth—popular perhaps because it is, in a way, comforting—is that Challenger's seven astronauts died instantly when the shuttle "exploded."
quote:Nat Goe article
But the shuttle crew was not blown up, nor did they die when the shuttle broke apart. Although the exact cause of death is unknown, many experts now think the astronauts were alive until the crew cabin hit the Atlantic Ocean at more than 321 kilometres an hour. "They were still strapped in their seats when they were found," the National Air and Space Museum's Neal said. What's less clear is whether the astronauts were conscious during their final moments. A NASA medical report concluded that "it is possible, but not certain, that the crew lost consciousness due to an in-flight loss of crew module pressure."
